North dakota has a new limits on building cars

I think it is aimed at 4 wheel drive and lowriders

link to bill

I believe this would effect everyone because it talks to suspensions. Any mod. from stock, meaning when I split my wishbone it would be illegal. Hope this hasn't passed yet? If one state starts it seems to pass on to other states. Just my 2 cents.

This is the reply that an NTBA member got.

The intent of House Bill 1442 is to make sure all vehicles are equipped properly for safe use on the roads. I was asked to put in a bill that cleaned up language that contradicted language in the administrative code within DOT. The only new changes were to remove the exemption from a small number of large vehicles using the weight limit to bypass the requirements that everyone else has to follow and to add that the adjustment of air and hydraulic suspensions couldn’t be applied while the vehicle was moving. I admit that the language isn’t perfect and the intention is to amend the bill so no adverse effects will come to restored vehicles and street rods. As the administrative code currently reads is that the definition of any special vehicle is having two or more axles. Well that definition applies to any modified vehicle as well so I intended to clean up and simplify the language. If that isn’t possible without adversely affecting you and your hobby/industry I will have no problem asking the body to kill the bill. I appreciate your input and hope I have relieved you of your fears as to my reasons for putting this bill in.

Sincerely,
Rep. Dan Ruby
