I know that's a dicey title but I would like some honest opinions on my seats. I have never been a fan of bucket seats in a t-bucket I've always liked the bench style but the more I have these the more I like them. I have lowered them as far as I can so now I am wondering should I leave them as is and recover them or should I cut the backs to match the top of the bucket? They are so comfortable I'm hooked on wanting to keep them I'm just not sure if they will look better level with the bucket and once it's done it's done I can't make them tall again so I'd like you guys to weigh in if you don't mind.

Also here's the new power plant for it.
It's the roller motor from my Corvette with a Weiand tunnel ram and 2 holley 450's

One more question, where can I get a bed that doesn't have such an extreme angle to it? The few I've seen I guess aren't for my bucket and they set the back of the bed higher than the back of the bucket. Am I going to have to buy one and modify it for the look I want?

If you like them i guess as Ted would say you r the main one that has to be pleased with them. Use them untill something strikes you as better and switch. Also some of the beds have no floor so the frame rails do not get in the way of mounting just make some brackets to attach the new bed to the rails and set it however you want it or channel tyour bed to fit around the kickup>

Yea I get that and usually do things that please me but I am truely on the fence about the backs being taller than the bucket and was wanting some outside opinions.

If these are tilt buckets remove the backs ,remove the covers and foam and cut them down from the bent bar that connects them to the base and reinstall the foam and covers with new hogrings. IE where the bottom of the cover is move up say 3 inches and wack um off and reweld the mounting bar and reattach.

Have you considered removing the seat backs, moving the seat bottoms as far back as they will go and making a thinner seat back all the way around like a bench seat? You don't need as much padding for your back to comfortable.

I just went ahead and took the seat apart and cut 4" out of the frame and welded it back together the put the upholstery back on.

Great minds think alike . That looks awesome Raid that using your noggin for more than a darn Hat rack.Good job!!!!!

OK I got them both done. I guess I'll hit the local parts store and buy some decent seat covers and make the seats look nice and new now.

I have to say I think they look much better the way you did them. I was glad to see this post because I have the very same situation and now know what looks the best. I bet it didn't hurt the comfort a bit. How do you like them now? .Francis

I tell ya as and old VW guy this looks just like a 60s VW seat FO SHO

I was worried about loosing the upper back support they provided but what I did was disassemble them and test it out with it shorter before cutting them. I'm happy with it now looks wise and comfort wise.

great job! i prefer a bench seat but you have illustrated what can be done as an alturnative.

moooy wayno! :)

Thats about how mine are now, but I have a 2x4 under the fronts of the seats, the backs are down on the floor, they are both hooked together with angle across the bottom, both front and back, so they come out as a unit... I love how comfy they are, but I am still going to skinny up the back, one of these days, that will give me more leg room, that is the only draw back to the short bods.. almost forgot, your bed angle, just cut it loose from the body almost all the way down, if you have a floor attached in the bed, cut it out, then pull it down in back to where it looks best to you, screw it together with thin wood strips, one side only, add mat to fill in the v cut, and make it strong again, body work and you are off and running, cheaper than changing the whole bed.. YES? :) At first I was thinking of raising the back of my Body to hide the high back seats, as I like the high back body better anyway, next time.. hehe hopefully there will be next time..

They look great Raid...what are those seats out of?

I don't have a clue they were in the car when I got it and were comfortable enough to keep.:)

Ted I thought of rasing the bucket to match the seats and it would have worked pretty easy as the slope going up the back of the bucket was right in line with the height of the seats but my concern was doing all the body work and it looking funny.

The look is up to YOU, not everybody else, as it is YOUR car, do it the way You like and make it as comfortable as you can get it... Don't worry about a show car, for real fun... Best of luck with your ride, the main thing is to be driving it a lot... :)

There were some folks that gave me all kinds of advice on a seat setup, but the best advice was to do what works for you. If you look at at my seat pics in my build, it seems not the norm, but I'm 6'3" and 5' of that is leg. Make it work for the driver, passengers will adjust accordingly.

All butts are not the same.:)
