Just got in after driving the T 1732 miles going to Fred's Fun Run. These folks are great and insist that this event will always be free to T bucket owners. Many things to do, I really had a great time and will do it again next year. And free dyno runs was the iceing on the cake. 1100 miles one way was easier than I thought it would be, needless to say, I think the new engine is broken in. My run on the dyno was my first full throttle @ 5500 RPMs on this engine.

Thanks for the photos Bob. Looks as if the weather held for you and what a awesome trip you must of had. The car went well and the only thing that I spotted that you may ave lost is the top rear dzus fastener on the right side bonnet side. hood I think you guys call them. Excellent to see so many young ladies out driving and enjoying their T's. I don't know the numbers of T's that attended by I certainly now can honestly say that no two Buckets are the same. Heck the colour choices, the different trim jobs,the different intake systems,the different grille surrounds (radiator),wheel and tyres,heck just blew my socks off. I wouldn't of like to been a judge to pick one top one as all in the photos had some wow factor. I did recognize cars that belong to other members here which would of been excellent catching up with those people and renewing friendships. So glad you made it home safely and for posting the photos.

I don't think I caught your first name. I was told by many members when I first showed up on this forum in Aug '09, to post pictures. I'm pleased they are enjoyed by you and others. Our cars do come in a lot of flavors, and your comment on all the differant induction systems, i.e. high rise manifolds, etc, hits a funny chord with me. There is a fairly large number of folks that I talked to this weekend that feel the visual appeal of the engine is even more important than if the parts selected improved performance. With the free dyno pulls, this became very evident. Most numbers were between 109 hp to almost 200 hp. One guy turned in huge numbers with throttle linkage purposely set up to only allow 1/2 throttle with the pedal mashed to the floor. He was an older gentleman, but on to his numbers......... He pulled 373 hp on the rollers and if he has about the same parasatic losses as I do in the trans, driveshaft, rearend, tires, then his flywheel numbers would be 416 hp at 1/2 throttle. His engine is a 454 small block Chevy bored and stroked to a big block displacement and he paid $15000.00 for that motor. When I had my 383 stroker built, I told them that high rpm horsepower was not important to me, but I wanted as much low rpm torque as I could get. My horsepower is quite modest 272.2 hp @ 4050 rpms on the rollers which translates to 320 flywheel hp. Like I said, MODEST. Torque is what I wanted and the engine builder gave it to me in spades. 432.5 lb/ft @ 2800 rpms on the rollers, 509.1 lb/ft at the flywheel. BTW, my T weighs 1790lbs with full 15 gallons of fuel.

Looks like you got what you wanted with your engine. GREAT news. I ampleased it worked out.

Couple of things caught my eye. The Black low T is just superb. Wonder hwy that one appeals !!!!

Also noticed on opposed coil front end.

I like to post the pictures if I think others could somewhat enjoy vicariously the T events. I have enjoyed your pictures a lot because of all the time I have spent in the UK. I think I told you that was the last location (Portsmouth) that I saw a real Cobra. Yes, the engine's torque is just what I wanted, next upgrade will be a modified Viper 6 speed trans with a top gear ratio of .50. This will allow me to take advantage of that torque and allow me to "cruise" at 60 mph @ 1150 rpms. I drove 80 to 85 mph in Arizona, running 3000 to 3200 rpms but hopefully for next years Fun Run, I can run the same speed but have the engine loafing along at 1500 to 1600 rpms. I guess I'm giving you some insight as to what I like.

I've always wondered what my little stock motor would do on a dyno, betcha it would be funny.
 
Bob, A big Thank You for the great pics, and I did notice the your rear radius (passenger side) rod adjustment nut, came lose and worked it's way clear up to the Heim base of threaded portion... Hope it did not waller out the inside threads in the radius rod itself... Glad you had a fun trip, I just may have to get my butt in gear and start going to these runs also... :)

That is why I always include pictures of my ride because it is a chance of getting a free critque from a chassis expert. As soon as I read your post I went out and checked it, and sure enough the nut was back "looking normal" because it had vibrated back to the proper position but needless to say, wasn't even hand tight. Took care of that, thanks again Ted. And you need to come out to the events again because your are still being mentioned during the course of events. You are a legend. I got the award for driving the T the farthest, $50.00 cash. Also my new little mouse motor had the highest torque on the rollers. I wonder if my fastners will still shake loose if my new cruise rpm is 1400 rpms instead of 2800 rpms when I get the .50 overdrive 6 speed? In the first 500 miles in LA traffic, my nut (nylock no less) that hold both the headlight and shock fell off. Then sometime 1000 miles into the trip, my bracket for the hood dzus connector vibrated off. Weird thing is, I don't feel this vibration and my mirrors are steady.

Your stock motor would probably do a lot better than the engines that were assemblied for "visual impact", rather than performance.

I know pulling a perfectly good M20 Muncie for 6 speed upgrade isn't cost effective (payback in fuel savings 10 years or 70000 miles) but like you said, hours at 3000 rpms gets old. But the kid in me says "play with that crazy torque, like pulling away starting at 60 mph @ 1150 rpms and just rolling on the throttle". I used to earn a living 40 years ago in photography, and sure like the speed and flexibility of todays digital cameras.
