R.I.P JOE PATERNO

Penn State football and the university was his life; his reason to be and to live. When he lost that he lost his life. Didn't take long for his body to catch up. He was a great coach and man. His episode of poor judgement should not diminish his career nor will it diminish the respect and gratitude he has from all the Penn State students and graduates that knew him personally and those who just enjoyed the success of the team. Another like him may never come around again.

Well said.

I was shocked to hear of his passing today and thought the same thing, when he lost the love of his life it took it's toll on him. Reminded me of Johnny Carson, after he left his show he was gone. I hope everyone remembers all the good things Mr P did in his life and the young men he influenced positively. RIP.

Whilst I cannot condone his poor judgment, I agree that episode was a tiny percentage of his overall life. What I will never understand is how an America that vilifies a Joe Paterno is the same America continuing to embrace a Willie Clinton, paying him tens of thousands of dollars for speaking engagements, etc.

I say kill them all and let God sort them out!

Too bad that this poor judgement comes at the end of his life enstead of a place in life where one can redeem himself over time. Poor judgement over nasty crimes against people makes me wonder if there were other things and Paterno was being held God like by a halo effect, when the truth could be somewhat completely different than that what we know.

I can't begin to convey the degree of my lack of interest in Joe Paterno as a sports figure, so my outlook may be slightly different than others here, but I find him nearly as dispicable as Sandusky. Yes it's unfortunate that he had to pay such a high price, but what he (didn't do) was inexcusable IMO.

I refrained from posting a comment earlier because I couldnt find a nice way of expressing what you just said.
Thank You.

Time or age has nothing to do with his actions or inactions. Religion either. If you do the crime, you do the time! Just think of all the kids that grew up after being molested by Priests. Hope none of you were them, and God help him if it was/is one of my children/grandchildren fo wrath would be an understatement! Off my box.
