I want to replace my rear tires soon with something thats taller. My wheels are 10 wide on 15 inch. But i think.my rear tires are to short what do you think. They are 265 50 15 now. This was back last year before the car was finished. Mabye a 295 or 305???

Thanks guys that will help me decide .

I personally think you are bored, Okie! I keep going over and over mine to see what I can change. I think I got it from my wife, who seems to keep our life in constant turmoil...

Rooster, those small tires make for a real low gear, I love the 33" tires X 10 " wide tread, mounted on 15" wide rims, great for the street and they bite like all He!!... hehe but they do get your body up a bit more in the rear... Good Luck with what ever you choose... :crap:

Now your talkin Ted 33s thats the ticket. AZ your right i am ready for the next project. I want a 27 or a 32 setting beside my 23 In the garage HA I just ask the warden (Is bigger better?? and she nodded yes) so that means new tires are on the horizon.

Did the warden get a kitchen remodel?LOL

I'm running Hoosier Pro Street 29.5x15.501515 on American Racing Hopster rims that are 15x10. I have seen several running the 31x16.5015 on 15x10 rims.

Wow i thought my 10 inch rims were to narrow for that tire thanks GT.

Here are the 31/16.50 15's on a 10" rim.

your welcome :D

I think a 16.5 wide tyre on a 10 inch has too much sidewall bulge.

A successful drag racer told me that any car handles better if the tyre and rim are of a very similar size. (I was going on about the evil handling my bucket had off the line)

I would suggest that Ted is onto it. :D Stay around the 10-11 inch wide tyre, but go from 26 tall to something over 31 tall and your car will get that big tyred look you want.

If you have the chance, borrow some big rims & tyres from a mate and see if you like the look.

If you look at Hoosier's guides, they always spec a wheel that is within plus or minus one to one and a half inches of the tread width. The tread width is not the same as the overall width of the tire. For instance, I have the 31x18.50x15 tires, but the tread width is only 14.50. The wheel spec is 13"-16" width, with the preferred being 14". I think if you're looking for lateral stability, your wheel should be at or slightly wider than the tread width. Mine are 15"x15".

EDIT: Well, I didn't check that link before I posted it. They are using "frames" in their website, so the link doesn't take you to the chart. Click on the link then go to the menu at the upper left of the screen and click on "Specs."
