Well, I had to tilt my lap top, but here's what I think. If your trans mount is good and strong, along with the floor in your body, probably not. But also consider this, at this step, it would be easy to do, so why not?

I'm with Fred. On a short wheelbase T-bucket, not necessary. Some frame flex is even desirable.

As the others have said, probably not all that necessary...but I figure a crossmember would add support to the floor and provide secure attachment points for safety belts and/or seats. I found a prefab crossmember with a drive shaft loop in the middle on ebay for about than what I figured the materials would cost.

I'm not even 100% sure what you're asking!
Are you talking about a trans crossmember? I'm not sure if you have bell housing mounts or whatever so I don't know.

Do not know what your gas tank plans are, but if it is under the trunk, a couple of sticks of 3/4" sq tube will be good support and make the frame complete. Do It!

I think Iam doing both. I have take apart the frame to do some grinding and some
weld touch up. I like the idea I can use the cross support for the seat belts and the
3/4" tubing for the gas tank.

Now I'm lost.

Ok Fred, here we go. The cross support is going right where kick up starts. I going to weld that there. The 3/4" tubing is going on each side and the bottom of gas tank and that's going to be welded in.

Got it, thanks!

You are correct, John. I did this to minimize flexing of the frame under hard acceleration which tends to happen with a "ladder" type frame. I did the same thing with my '37 Chevy also. below is a picture of my T's chassis.
