S10 rear end question

Just picked up a S10 rear end out of a V6 vehicle. Guy I bought it from went through it and ground the leaf spring perches off and discovered it was to narrow for his project. I got it for $15 so I am not out much.

Now my question. It is a 5 bolt hub but the original rim was a 14". I can't put 14" on a bucket. I have set of 15" rim off a full size chevy truck but the hole pattern is bigger. Anybody know of a 15" rim that has the smaller hole pattern?

On a homeless mans budget so steel ugly ones are fine. Would rather have a car on the road then a half finished flashy one (flash I can buy later).

The S10 is 5 holes on 4 3/4" bolt pattern. That's a very common GM bolt pattern for small and mid-size rear wheel drive cars. Only full size trucks, Impala's, Caddys and those size cars had the big pattern (5 on 5"). I'm pretty sure AMC used the 4 3/4 in pattern, too.

Any salvage yard should have a bunch of 15" rims with 5 on 4 3/4.

S10 4-wheel drives MAY have had 15" (and maybe 16") rims, too.

Hope that gives you a place to look.

Mike

My AMC Eagle had the 5 on 41/2 pattern.

That s10 is a good rearend. That is what spirit has on all their cars.

You might have to do what I did on my 23 and on the rear end I was going to use under my 29 RPU (both are S10 rears) I simply ordered 15 inch Chevy bolt pattern rear wheels with the maximum amount of inset they could put in them. I think it is something like 2 3/4 inches. I got mine from Wheel Vintiques and the 23 has 8 inch wide rims and the 29 had 7 inchers. Had to do that because the S10 rear is so narrow that I had to move the wheels out somewhat. Just make sure you tell them you want the rear end to wind up wider not narrower so they give you the proper wheels. Price wasn't too bad.

Here are the ones you will want. BTW, I have not taken it easy on my S10 rear and it still isn't complaining, must be pretty tough.

I don't have a good picture of the 8 inch wheels on the 23, but here are the ones I was using on my 29 with the same maximum offset.

You can see how the rear end would have been too narrow with regular rims on my 23.......

Zillions of the midsize GM's had this pattern. Camaro, Firebird, Monte Carlo wheels will work and they are plenty full in the yards. I have an S10 Blazer rear and my roll-around wheels are junkyard freebies. I think they came off of a early 80's Malibu or something...
