SAD DAY

That is sad, hopefully it's not as bad as you thought! This enters my mind from time to time.

I hear ya...definitely a sad day. For close to a year I've been struggling with the idea of abandoning my project due to health issues. If I have to give it up, it'll be devastating.

I have a door on my passengers side, or I wouldn't be driving it. I stick my left foot in ,then sit on the seat & slide accross the seat to drive it. Work pretty good. When I want to get out I slide accross the seat . Get a hold of windshield & the side of car & lift myself , up & out. Works for now.

Sorry to read this and truly wish you well in your decision and health. The body in my new build will or won't have a door. My decision boils down to whether or not I'll be physically able to climb in my car as time goes by. I'm in good health for 57 years old, but I just got older while typing this. The difference in the cost of having a door is going to be $600. I'm doing a LOT of thinking as I get to the point of purchase.

Also, in my decision, are times when folks have wanted a ride, but declined because they had to climb in my old one. Now, of course, it was cool to watch the young ladies do it, but that fun can't last forever. Well........I guess that'll never get old.... anyway..... it would be cool for kids and others to be able to step right in.

Johnny,

Sorry to hear about your situation! My sense is that these cars keep us young, in spirit anyway.

Best of luck!

I can't get in and out of my car as well now that I'm 72, have had two hip replacements, and arthritis. I do have a passenger door - wouldn't be easy for me or my wife to get in and out if I didn't. I have also considered selling the car but have decided I'll keep it as long as I can get in and drive safely. Our car has a standard body and we could use more room with a stretch, but we just take shorter trips and get by. As Mark said, these little cars keep us young in spirit. If you have trouble getting in the car you possibly could modify the body to provide one at a reasonable cost. There have been postings on this site and others on how to do that.

Is it a case where you just need the money? If not consider having a shop put in a door for you. Just my 2 cents. Hope you feel better and find a way to keep it.
