A day to give thanks to and appreciate ALL of our veterans.

Whilst this is a day to commemorate those who paid the ultimate price for this country, I also want to say thank you to all who have served. Freedom is not free.

To add to what Mike said, I wholeheartly appreciate the efforts and sacrifice of the active and retired military, but today is about rememberance of those who have truly given all for the freedoms we enjoy.

It irks me and my 95 year old Grandfather who served in both WWII and Korea that people today think Memorial Day is about honoring all that served. It is about all those who made the ultimate sacrifice and never came back. Those are the true heroes and whom we are to be honoring today.

Add another to the list. I've been griping for 3 days about the lack of knowledge that the media displays concerning Memorial Day. Of course, they display that same short-coming on most topics.

You are absolutely right. Thanks for pointing that out. I have posted that fact on several military sites and groups I hang out at and they are a bit more vocal. All of my Veteran family appreciates it.
