Shipping a body...

What is a reasonable price for shipping a T-Bucket body approximately 900 miles?

There is more to it than just 900 miles. We ship all the time, almost every day. The price can very a lot. the biggest thing is to ship to a business. If you ship to a residence, most companies will charge extra for that, then if they use the lift gate it is extra again. Also where is this business? Some places like in Idaho that are very sparsely populated and are 100 miles from a truck terminal will be more. Also size and weight will play a big factor. It cost more to ship a stretch body than a standard body because of the added length.
Here is a link to the company we use. You can play with this and get a good idea of the cost. Where it asks for class it is 250 on a fiberglass body.

On another board it was mentioned That FASTENAL somtimes brings in extra freight because they are heading there anyway with their own trucks, might look into that as far as getting it closer for you to pick up.

I went to the local freight depot to get my Spirit body and saved the $100.00 fee for coming to the house. I took some tin snips with me and left the pallet with them and put the body and pick up bed in my Durango and came to the house.

Thanks for the tips. The body I checking for is one stretched length, width & height about 6". I have a call into a friend to see if I can have it shipped to his business....about a mile from mid-city Cincinnati. I should have thought of shipping to a business address....I've done that before with my wheels, to get a better rate.

Hmmmmm....I'll have to look into that. I know there is a Fastenal place not far from here.

Good idea! So far the best quote I have is from a regular freight carrier.

Just out of curiosity, what was the best quote you have received?

The best commercial carrier quote I've found is $295. I've gotten one Uship bid...for $765

Shipping on one of our stretch bodies to Cincinnati is just $137.00 to a business with a dock or fork truck. You really don't need a dock or fork truck, just a good business address.

I'm in 68107. Unfortunately new here, so no business contacts. I'm sure i could find one if needed.

Like RPM said, you can also pick up from the transfer dock. My body came form California to here in Indy. I just drove to the nearest transfer warehouse for the shipper and picked it up and put it in my truck.

I think I'm probably going to go with picking it up at the terminal. Using the link that RPM gave me, I was able to find a shipper that would do terminal pickup for $165 from Louisiana. The terminal is actually only about 15 miles away, and as close as the nearest business addresses I'd be able to use.
