Speedway Quick Release Steering Hub

I recently bought a Speedway 910-32851 QR Hub and was a tad disappointed to discover it comes with metric bolts.
At first I was pleased to see Speedway supplied Grade 8 bolts for this hub. Then I discovered they're FM ..... you get it.
But, they have Grade 8 markings. Speedway confirmed they're Grade 5.

This QR hub is still a good deal since even with a CNC lather and mill, I couldn't make one for the cost with shipping.

I'm going to set up the hub and install .250 - 28 Helicoils. I'm also going to add three more threaded holes as I shot 6 holes in the adaptor I made to adapt my wheel to this hub. Pictures forthcoming after I get the wheel finished..... hopefuly before the Pope's wedding.

And whats wrong with metric. Been using it for years. At school did both imperial and metric. Now prefer metric. Its seems easier with everything in 10's. Plus the fact I have memorialized every tapping and clearance size from 2 to 18mm.
Thats the EU for you.
Gerry

Came across some deer crossing the driveway this morning.

And, a snap of the QR hub which I turned down, my adaptor, those bolts and a chunk of the wood I'll use on the steering wheel, also cut on a CNC.
I did the wood on a Bridgeport EZTrac mill rather than the Haas so I wouldn't contaminate the coolant. The wood is Koa that I bought in Hawaii last year.

Since I let the smoke out of my trusty flash drive last week, I've been trying to redraw the steering wheel since I wasn't smart enough to back up the drive.... dumb.

Gerry, I like metric fasteners because I can buy a greater variety of small diameter stuff in high strength as opposed to inch stuff.

Ron, what? the Pope is married? So, are you suggesting the invitation I got is a spoof?........... Congratulations on your 33 years
