Hi Dusty.....I'm in the shop today playing with a 60 MPH racing lawnmower!...........well...........only got enough room to open it up to 60......and I ain't drivin the dawm fool thing either! Ha! OK Dusty....what is a 'new vintage speed carb conversion kit' or let me ask, what does it do? A carb rebuild kit????????
A engine needs 3 things;
1. Compression
2. Spark, a nice hot blue spark, not yelloer or red......BLUE
3. Fuel
If any or all 3 are missing in any quanitity......it'll run ruff, or in the spark and fuel equation.....it won't run ay all!
If it misses some, then shuts off, I'd say its fuel
if its like it cuts out like a light switch......I'd say its electrical
in your case.....its probably a vaccuum thing since its a new engine. Letsn hear when you total is, where your finishes at, etc.....
My guess would be you are either running out of gas or flooding. If it is not breaking up prior to lifting, I would think your float level in one or all is too high.
its not a rebuild kit ,it came with new jets to re jet all 3,52 to 56 on main carb and 52 to 54 on ft and rear ,power pump block off for ft and rear carb ,and new bases with no idle circits,new idle circut and power pump for center carb also not a new engine 8000 miles and this was all done on 3 new carbs
setup with three Rochester 2GC's from VintageSpeed also. I modified an Edelbrock Street Tunnel Ram intake to run my Tri-power setup. It's tricky to get them tuned in and running correctly to say the least!!!!
You have either an over rich condition that is soaking the plugs and killing the fires or your loosing fuel when you let it go.
Take it out on the road and do a WOT run again... let it die out. Remove a plug and see if it is fuel wet.
If it is fuel wet, Turn in (lean out) your idle Fuel/Air mixture screws, That is what solved the problem for me.
Hey Guys........when someone calls my attention to something.........my little pea brains gotta shirt gears.........one of the guys had asked me a question about a racing lawnmower.......hey......we're a Equal Oppurtunity Engine Facility here........we'll blow lawn mower engines just as fast as we can the big Brodex...........
