Tearing down The Wall

Well, Roger Waters said it would be a secret, but it is a secret no longer. Last evening, David Gilmour joined Roger Waters on stage at London's O2 Arena to perform Comfortably Numb. Later in the evening, Nick Mason, Waters and Gilmour took the stage to perform Outside the Wall.

Listen to the crowd when Gilmour and Mason are introduced -

And some videos taken from Row 2. A bit hard to see Gilmour atop the wall in Comfortably Numb, from this angle -

And here is the complete version of Outside the Wall, also taken from Row 2. Note Gilmour nodding his head, as Waters admits to having been grumpier in his youth -

We can only hope this is not the end, but this could possible be the last time we ever see these three musicians on stage together. Which means the history of the evening could run even deeper than we realize.

Here is a link to a BBC report on the concert event of a lifetime. The site seems to be getting hammered with traffic just the now, but there are some better close-ups in the BBC video. Including some better shots of The Black Strat. <drool>

I wasn't not in tears, but I certainly had chills and goosebumps. And a deep sense of disappointment at not being part of the crowd at the O2!

Pretty sweet. Love to see them back together and here in the states!

Man I would like to see them play in the States one more time. One of the best! Good to see them together.

I agree it would be nice to see them tour again, but it seems David Gilmour doesn't care to travel much these days. And with Rick Wright being gone, we wouldn't see the familiar line-up again anyway. Nonetheless, it was good to see both Waters and Gilmour on the same stage, hugging, smiling and joking with one another.

As a tribute to Rick Wright and Syd Barrett -
