About a year ago before I bought my 27 kit from Spirit , I called the local Texas DPS office and asked them about getting replica 27 titled. I talked to an officer who said he was the waiver officer. He said that it wasn't a problem they had made it easier to do.I would need to bring it to him and he would inspect it and I would only need the required safety equipment that was on a 27.After it passed inspection he would title it for a 27 replica. I'm about a month away from doing this but I have been told it wasn't that easy.My question is has anyone been through this process lately. Thanks for any info Steve

I remember reading a while back that the DMV was going to start that. Looks like they did. If that's what he told you, then that confirms it. Good luck!

The SEMA BILL didn't make it thru the legislature in Texas. Maybe in 2012. And now that Texas has separated vehicle registration from the DPS, it may now be different.

Check out the new Texas Department of Motor Vehicles website. http://www.txdmv.gov/vehicles/registration/register.htm

Well if he can get it done that easily then he is the officer I would go see. It has been my experience in Louisiana that some DMV's can make a simple license into a nightmare and the person two kiosks over can seem to process your application and fix any problems at a stroke of a key. It's is like a crapshoot every time I head down there.
