Update on Miss Behavin' and me

Well, last week, I completed my visits to the doctor and physical therapy. They will send all thier info and I assume a bill to my lawyer. About the only good news I have recieved from her is that there is a possibility that the City of Houston will cut a check for the car damage and take a while on my physical injuries.

So, that's where I am. It is still hard to be patient and as I write this, I am at work on a Saturday to make up lost work hours. It sucks, but I have no choice. My bills aren't going to wait for the end of this crap. So, that's it. To those who have helped me, I have NOT forgotten you. I'm trying to rub two nickels together and make a dime, but I keep coming up 2 cents short. Please bear with me. Please.

Mikey is pressing forward with Miss Fortune, even though what I have paid him is a spit in the bucket. The Dago axle is bent and drilled and looks sweet. I don't have pics yet, but when I do, I'll post them.

Thank, guys. Your kind words of support have been a blessing.

Good luck keep your head up and look ahead in a positive way . No need to look back until Miss Behavin is back on the road and you pass your first car.

just keep us posted Fred. we miss you around here!

If you were closer I'd be over there helping in all that I can.

I appreciate that. Right about now, you'd need to be a shrink 'cause I'm losing it. Things are going to work out and when they do, I'll be asking for advice. You'll be more than welcome to chime in. In fact, I insist.

Keep plugging away, it will all work out in the end.

The hardware part is easy to solve (i.e. your car damage) that is pretty straight forward process, this is whats broke and this is what it costs to fix. They usually cut a check within about 4 months.

The software side (i.e. YOU) is a bit more involved when fighting the City/Insurance company. Its a little harder to point to your shoulder and say "This is worth x$ that is worth x$" so they will drag their feet, send you to 15 different "specialists" who will all disagree with each other depending on which side they are working for...

(We spent 7 years fighting a claim for my wife!) The first two claims, damage and loss of work, were settled within 6 months, the last claim for injuries took over 7 years and did not turn out in our favor, it became a gamble of "winning" a settlement or losing the house to lawyer fees, well I wasn't about to lose my house for $50,000 or so on a as my ex-lawyer put it a "50 50 shot". Of course he waited all this time to tell us this fact, the first 6years and 11 3/4 months it was all "Yeah you have a 95% shot" (If you cannot tell I am not a big fan of lawyers/insurance companies!)

I was very lucky with my claim. I made several threats and I got paid. I was told by a friend at the attorneys office that you should get 3times the medical and that is usually standard. We had gotten just that too. Just hang in there.

Good luck with this.
Shoot for the moon! The city should be quick to settle the damage claim, the medical can take years, dont be too quick to settle that, you might have long term effects, and it should be considered carefully.
Patience and the work of a good attorney should put a smile on your face soon, hopefully.
