I have just noticed that we have exceeded the monthly target for running cost, so I thought I would say
A BIG
Thank you to all.

It might not be my place to do this but its nice to see that we appreciate the guys who make up the forum, including some guy who runs its, cant remember his name just now LOL Think hes called Milk or something

I know every month is a struggle so its good to see that people have helped us all out.

I look at it as the best value search engine there is when it comes to T Bucket expertise.

Thanks Gerry. Any time we can squeak a couple extra dollars out for a month, I scoot them into the bank for an emergency reserve. I just renewed all the software licenses for the site, so we're good to go for another 6 months on licensing. Monday morning, I'll pay the November hosting bill, so we can keep the doors open for another month. The money comes in one door and is headed out another door before I even get to admire it.

I always say we don't make any money, we just handle a lot of it. :winkn:

Here's a good one for you, with respect to health insurance.

My former employer provided health insurance for us. It was terrible coverage, but an office call co-pay was $35 and my prescription co-pay costs were $56 each month. So, for 90 days, I had $203 in co-pay costs. (About now, Gerry thinks I'm daft, talking about paying for prescription medication.)

Then we lost our coverage. I was left with zero health insurance. No warnings, no mention of it at all, just the notice in the mail from the provider that I was suddenly on my own. Now, an office call costs me $75. But I dug around all the pharmacies here in town and managed to come up with a pharmacy that could provide all my prescriptions for $40 on a 90 day supply. So my 90 day costs went from $203 with insurance to $115 without.

The health-care industry isn't looking to rape any of us, now is it? :soapbox: I hope more people will start taking advantage of the $4/month prescription offers. Maybe that will get the mainstream pharmacies back here in reality, with the rest of us.

Obviously it has been pretty scary, not having coverage for serious medical issues, but my day-to-day expenses are actually better without insurance. I went through a rather frightening medical situation, shortly before I changed jobs, that had me more than a little concerned. The doctor wanted me in the hospital for observation and tests, but I explained I was not going to go into that kind of debt. He was forced to make a best-guesstimate call, because I refused to take on a wheelbarrow full of expenses. I keep waking up on this side of the dirt, so he apparently knew what he was doing. :winkn:

Other than that, my self-employment position has me in better shape, all the way around. Now I can afford health insurance, I can afford to tuck away money for retirement and I still have a lot more left over than what i had before. How's the old saw go? "You'll never get rich, digging another man's ditch."

We have had a prescription charge of about $10.00 here for many years. Like you; some of our more helpful Chemists (pharmacies) say just buy it retail off the shelf, its only 4.99.
But; and this is a big but, we can go into hospital without worrying where the money to pay for it is coming from.
Has a customer back today who has spent 4 months in Hospital with a serious illness - did nt cost him a dime.
I remember talking to a retired couple many years ago in Pittsburgh and they told me their insurance, due to previous conditions, would be 40% of their income. Frightening

These are not my words, but I like 'em.

" Love many, trust few, and always paddle your own canoe ", I have to remember that saying, it says a lot.
