Xen Media Gallery is live

OK, boys and girls, the Xen Media Gallery is installed and hopefully configured correctly.

Please take the time to read this Knowledgebase post, to get a general idea of how to use the Gallery functions.

If you find something is not working as you anticipated, please submit a ticket on the Help Desk. If I can keep all the support questions in one place, it makes things much easier for all of us.

Please note: if you are a new member and have not been here for at least 30 days and have not submitted at least 10 posts, your Gallery permissions will be very limited.

Site Sponsors and Supporting Members all get 100 MB of total image storage, whereas everyone else will only have 50 MB of storage. We're still looking for ways to allow more perks for those who support the site.

I put up two photos and it worked very easy..........

I just want to repeat my earlier request -

It really does make things a lot easier if I can centralize all of the questions and/or problems to one area. When I am getting questions via e-mail, via Personal Conversation, via the forums, etc., that leaves me trying to chase things down through all those channels. If I can just go to one place and handle all of the issues from there, it saves time for all of us. The easier it is for me to find a potential problem, to test it and to develop a fix or explanation, then the quicker you will get an answer to your questions.

Sheesh, gallery updates are about to wear me down. For those that think I just sit back and let this place run on autopilot, look at all the gallery upgrades, since the install, back on the 13th of this month -

Version 2.0.4 was released late one evening, so I decided to wait until the following evening to run that upgrade. By the time I got back to it, 2.0.4 was deprecated and 2.0.5 had been released.

Seriously Mike is it really worth it? I was one of the "don't really care" voters on the question of the gallery. Not that I don't like looking at member's pic's, but there are several free and easy sites that you can upload your pics to and link here. I would rather you take the time and relax some or spend time with your grandbaby, than babysit updates for something that isn't essential to the functionality or vitality of this forum. Personally, I'd rather use photobucket so I can link the photos to other forums or whatnot.

Just my $.02, which 'aint worth much nowadays... :D

Yeah, after taxes, that 2¢ won't cover much, will it? ;)

The time necessary to perform the upgrades isn't extensive, it is just that some scripts can go 4-6 months without updates, whereas the gallery script is getting updated every 48 hours, or so. Just about the time I get an upgrade performed, there is another one being released.
