i do appreciate the sentiment and i didn't take your comments negatively. just me trying to be humble... just to prove i remember how. it's good to know there are good people out there looking out for other good people.

agreed 100%. i just don't know the man and cannot presume to know, nor judge, that he's not making the best choice for himself. maybe others are better informed. in any event he's likely not thrilled about the whole affair.

    Driveshaft length

that's the thing. the engine/trans and rearend are not in fixed spots yet. there are a few things up in the air at the moment: still waiting for parts from ron, still trying to sort an unresolved mess up with the motor mounts, and exact location of the body i've yet to determine. i think in the...

    Driveshaft length

this is? i couldn't find anything on this particular subject.

    Driveshaft length

you may be right but if there is a guideline or limit to the length i'd rather know it now than after everything is in for good. where i put the body is partly determined by where the drivetrain goes and where the drivetrain goes may be partly determined by a minimum safe length of driveshaft.

    Driveshaft length

man that's a bit less travel than i would have guessed. gives me some perspective for sure.

    Driveshaft length

at this point the drivetrain (heck, everything) is in early mock-up. it's gonna be a shortwheelbase car so space is tight i think; maybe not as bad as i may suspect anyway. i think my concern arose when looking at how things rest, not many final fixed points yet, and seeing the distance from the...

    Driveshaft length

so no thoughts about minimum length of the driveshaft it self?

    Driveshaft length

you mean 1/2 inch to 2 inch? and could you clarify what you mean by 8" or whatever is needed? not sure i get it.

    Driveshaft length

how would that correspond to driveshaft legnth? i take it that with an about 2 inch (shaft?) travel the suspension doesn't move all that much.

    Driveshaft length

For a car with a buggy (transverse) leaf spring, and hairpin radius rods, I wonder what the minimum advisable driveshaft length might be. I'm new to this car-building stuff, so I don't know how much travel such a rear suspension might have, but I've seen some 'buckets with very short wheelbases.
