4 bar batwing thickness

Can anyone using a double bracket batwing tell me what thickness of steel you have used. I was thinking that if a single batwing is 3/8" that if i used two then i could get away with 3/16 - 1/4" thick plates. I am planning on using heim or bushed rod ends and i think it looks better and is probably safer to sandwich the rod end between 2 brackets rather than bolting beside 1 single bracket on the axle. Sorry if this has been covered somewhere, i did search but no luck.

We use 3/16" for a double bracket, 3/8" for single ones.
