URGENT: Send a Letter to EPA Opposing Proposed Vehicle Emissions Standards

Encourage opposition from officials on these proposals:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued proposed federal emissions standards for new motor vehicles model-years '27 to '32, which are intended to dramatically increase sales of electric vehicles (EVs) and will stifle fuel technology innovation.

The EPA estimates that 67% of new passenger vehicles sold in the U.S. would be EVs by 2032 under its proposed standards. SEMA has serious concerns with this proposal, which aggressively seeks to lower carbon emissions under timelines that effectively make electric vehicles the only option for automakers to meet its requirements. The proposal will reduce consumer choice for Americans looking to purchase new vehicles, and it will increase the cost of purchasing a new vehicle given the rising prices of EVs.

Officials Must Hear from You Right Away!
We need your help! Please sign a letter opposing the EPA’s proposal. Feel free to personalize the letter and explain how the agency’s push to an all-electric future will impact your interests.

"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued proposed federal emissions standards for new motor vehicles model-years '27 to '32" .................. When I first read this I thought 1927 - 1932? WTF? Then I realized it must mean 2027 - 2032. To use more abbreviation(s) IMHO it is all BS. When I was young, 1950's, my parents would occasionally take me to Los Angeles for one reason or another. The air quality then was so bad that my eyes would burn the whole time. For the past 40 or more years that has not been the case. My point is that there has been lots of air quality improvement due to the policies of the EPA and other organizations, but now I feel that we are reaching a point of greatly diminishing returns and perhaps there might be other areas with more need of focus. Obviously just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary.

As the landfills pile up with obsolete ev’s along with the various Dewalt and related battery tools that were yesterday’s future until they decided to increase the batteries... never mind the pollution and child labor in the mining and manufacturing of all of the “save the planet” contraptions. It’s nothing but a power grab via technology, shifting energy wealth from big oil to whatever politically inspired group of the moment... most not favorable to the USA. The crazy thing is the technology and infrastructure that is already in place... where’s it going? Just my .02 worth.

The way of the gas stoves in California!

We have power outages in California because the power grids can't keep up with the current demand. When the electric power is gone , we have the natural gas to keep us warm & cook our meals. The people that are doing this to the american people are clueless & irresponsible politicians. With THE INCREASE IN ELECTRIC CARS , comes a greater demand for electricity. California CANNOT SUPPLY THE DEMAND IT ALREADY HAS. DUH !! MUY STUPIDO IDIOTOS !!

We had solar panels on the roof of my shop in Tucson, even with air conditioning running most of the time our electric bill was only $19.00 - $20.00 per month. We have been talking to various solar companies here in Yuma to get the same thing. In Arizona we run air conditioning most of the year, so without solar it can get expensive but we don't pay as much for electricity as Californians do. The solar guys told me that all the commercial solar production in AZ gets sold to CA for about 4 times what we pay locally. If you think that extra cost doesn't get passed on to the consumer I have a bridge in New York for sale you might also be interested in.

Which one of the 3 do you own? A friend wants to know!!

Your EPA seems to have evolved into a law unto themselves. They're certainly creating Havoc amongst the diesel engine modifiers if the Youtube videos are to be believed.

But how much did the solar panels and batteries and controllers, etc cost? I am seriously considering installing them on my home and barn because the energy cost is ridiculous. From the limited investigation I’ve done, companies who install them are comparing the cost to your energy bill but they become obsolete in twenty years. I am seriously becoming a believer in the theory that everything is rigged against the consumer. Granted, twenty years is likely longer than my remaining life cycle, I just don’t want to put forth the effort and expense, plus look at those ugly things for a mere discount.

The solar panels on my Tucson house cost somewhere around $40K. We received tax rebates for something like $12K so the net cost was around $28K. Our electric bill pre-solar was about $350 per month, that dropped to $20 per month so a monthly savings of $330. At $330 per month savings it would take 8 years to recover the $28K. The system lasts for 25 years so the last 17 years you are saving big time. Another way to look at is at $350 per month for 25 years the cost would be $105,000. The same time period times $20 per month, plus $28,000 (cost of panels) = $34,000. Quite a difference. The only bad thing is the initial outlay.

Hey, 409T, I have home solar too, and look at it as an investment. For you, saving about $4000/yr on a $28000 investment, your ROI is 14%...and it's tax-free! And as you may know panels can last longer than 25 years (the typical warranty). Their life is theoretically unlimited, barring big hail or a tornado.

What happens when you need to replace the roof?

Most solar installers require or attempt to sell you a new roof too. I’m planning on going with steel on my house, as it needs the shingles replaced anyways, and the barn is slate so that should solve it. Otherwise you would have a very expensive reroof/panel replacement every 20-25 years.

Awesome until the current administration shoves the tax hike through for unrealized capital gains. The previous capital gains changes really screwed me on my rental business. They advertise such hikes as being only for the ultra rich, but that’s not how it plays out. If not for that increase, I could have been done with rentals years ago.

Yes, check out your roof condition before you do solar panels. It would be a pain and expensive to remove and replace the panels. If you do need a new roof, consider aluminum or steel. My folks had an aluminum roof and it is still in place 50 years later.
And if money is no problem, consider solar shingles. Look just like an ordinary roof, good if your roof faces the street.

The govt becomes more socialist by the day. I see where CA is demanding multiuser solar (apts, condos) sell their energy to the utility at cheap prices, and then buy it back at full price! Even if you have a battery you can't escape the tentacles of govt. Even going completely off-grid will be penalized.

When I asked that question of the guy going door to door, he said they would come out for FREE and remove the panels and reinstall them. Sounds to good to be true! Assuming they are still in business when it came time for them to remove/install them.

Yes, many installers don't last long. Mine went bust 5 years after the install. Since my panels are on a ground mount tracker I can do my own service, which has just been replacing microinverters.
