Low Slung T

Still waiting on my new axles. Should be here today though. Then I can get that rear buttoned up.
If I fall from the face of the earth, it’s likely that my wife has found out how much I paid for the gauges I ordered yesterday. Can’t wait to get these babies in.

Believe it or not, he made those.

I want some too.

The guy has some serious skills.

Bolt Depot has stainless steel sidewalk bolts up to 1/2-13 if that helps. Look under machine screws.

As said, made specifically for the T. We had to make a spark erosion tool for the torx hole (by measurement; as Torx refused to give us any dimensions). They have a 1/2" shaft and various length threads for different applications. The 'end cap' has an 8 mm thread on it to screw it into the 'bolt'

They are great... only problem is they worked out at around 50 bucks a pop... I carried the theme on to things like the kingpin caps

Got my rearend all buttoned up last night with a new cover and some new cover bolts. Still need to final weld it and final paint it but it looks pretty good. Might do a little body work on it before final paint too.

Go the tracking info for my gauges. Should have them Tuesday!! Can’t wait to see them!

Moved on to my air intake. Was going to try to use my stock intake elbow and have my filter to the side and kind of behind the headlight. Mocked it up with the filter right on the MAF and 90d down from the MAF. Hated both!!

Started doing some research and found a company(Street & Performance) that made a filter that mounted right to the intake and could have a MAF built right in. Specifically made for LT1 builds like mine. I love it and it would work perfectly. However, the company shut down about 4 years ago after the owner passed and there is no sign of these things anywhere for sale.

Plan D no good. Plan E...egh...I’m on plan F now. See pics below. It has a filter on both sides. I’ll probably switch the cones out for some rectangular ones though. Ordered up the parts I need to make this work and I’m pretty certain I’m going to run with it.

The tracking on my gauges has said "Out for Delivery" all day. It's like being a kid on Christmas morning and you parents are making you wait to open presents! My anxiety is at an all time high!

Welp. Don’t have enough room behind the dash for the speedo. Need just over an inch more. Brainstorming what to do here.

Have a machinist turn some rings for you or does Classic have some sort of trim rings you can use. You can always get a piece of 5/4" oak and make a wood dash or rings out of it.

I curved my dash when I made it to give it a better look than a flat bit of sheet, but also to give me the clearance needed for my one instrument, the speedo.

Like Gerry says, you need to bring the dash forward enough to make room for the gauge(s). Kind of a 'reverse tunnel' effect. Maybe a plywood cutout behind the steel plate, nicely glassed-in, would work. Probably need a couple of thicknesses to get to 1".
