Does anyone have any tips on how to tighten panted bolt heads and nuts without marring the paint on them?

Masking tape around bolt head or nut

And use 6 sided sockets and box wrenches on the tape.

Use 3M Vinyl masking tape and metric wrenches/sockets that are a little bigger than the SAE size required.

 

[Hack]

Cleanroom tape like Ultratape 1160 works good too, no residue and it's low tack so it won't mess up the paint when you peel it off.

This worked good for me Thanks! Painting is hard enough to get right,goofing it up in assembly is frustrating. Bob
