    Hey guys,
Do proportional valves or residue valves go bad after sitting? I got my T Bucket under its own power but the front wheels are squeaking and the brake pedal a little spongy.

    Thanks

It is a closed system and unless you get moisture in the lines I don't think they will go bad
Try bleeding the system and clean the rotors and pads. You should be OK.

    G'Day Bob,
Brake fluid absorbs water over time and the system needs flushing every 2 years. I've learnt the hard way that occasional use vehicles suffer way more than every day use ones. I change the fluid out every 12 months on my Clubman because it spends a fair bit of time in the carport. I have had to replace caliper and slave cylinder pistons in the past because I didn't keep an eye on them.
    Regards,

    Could be caliper sticking?

That would do it. If the piston can’t move you can’t get the air out.

Sometimes the brackets or slide sleeves stick from corrosion and the piston will just act like a spring... spongy feel and impossible to bleed. Sitting is hard on machines.

That is why you do inspections and maintenance BEFORE you drive the first time after it has sat a long time.
