It can be done. I built my first trans for my TBucket, it was an OD trans 200-4R.

Have you bought the ATSG manuals or any videos?

I have a manual and watched several YouTube videos. How did you clean the case before putting it back together?

Take care not to get any debris inside. I like to power wash and remove most external crud prior to disassembly. A little junk can cause a seal to leak, etc. also be mindful of rag selection due to lint, etc.

Started with a 2" air sander and then sand blasted followed by a DA with 360 and 400 grit. If you are worried about the sand then you should be worried about the grit that comes off every abrasive wheel and grinder you use on the casing.

Just needs a more than thorough wash and clean. Did mine in an industrial hot wash followed by a pressure wash (in every hole and place I could find) then an air blow and finally another hot wash. Seemed to work for me. Powder coat is quite forgiving.Pic below may look rough but its whats underneath the final picture finish.

Oh, and the black fade is because I have around 1" of bell housing sticking out in front of the fire wall. This way there is just black, and no black/Chrome line. Powder coater was more excited about doing this than I was....

You're correct about Gerry, Bruce. But the thread was started by JonRod and he is on this side of the 'pond.'
