hello to all.....first i'd like to say what a great forum this is, I really learned alot in a short time this is my first post and i'm green as they come when it pertains to t buckets, seeing pictures on the internet and in books is the extent of my experiance. I hope i don't become too much of a bother to people cause i have a ton of questions floating in my head but i'll start with this......I have a 1992 ford ranger custom 5spd standard with a 4.0 that has lots of miles on it would this engine be worth rebuilding and using..I read i can use the rear end but its offset and the tranny is manual, Am i wasting my time with this.

That could be done, but I would go a different route take it from experience, I starter with an s10 chevy 4.3 v6. In the first place these cars are not big enough to put a stick in without a lot of engineering, and using the v6 will in the long run will cost way more that buying a v8 doner car ford or chevy makes no difference. Parts such as headers or intake are more costly, and with a lot of miles on it already, I would go for a different starting point. Oh and asking questions is no bother, that is what we are for, welcome to the forum.

Very wise advice, Francis.

Yes the manual transmission is definitely a tight fit for 3 pedals as I'm learning the hard way myself. Even with a stretched body my pedals will be past the bell housing and to the more narrow mid section to the transmission, and it is still a very right squeeze. May have to drive it barefooted!

Not the best pic but you can see the small space.

And just think, Dale, you don't have a steering column in as yet and that will make make things even tighter. IMHO
