That disaster has been waiting to happen for several years. At my old place of employment, we were a BGFS distributor. And for the last 18-20 months I was there, sourcing product from Grant was impossible.
I respect people that try to bring new and creative products to market, but Grant was pretty cavalier about it all. His three deuce manifold/carb combos sold for an overwhelming amount of money. Who could afford to buy the set-up? He had a fairly decent oval-track 750 CFM gasoline carb, but his drag stuff was always lame, compared to anything else. Late last Spring, I had a customer who felt he just had to have a Grant Street Demon. I called them and of course, they didn't have any on hand. When I asked how long it would take to do one up, they told me they didn't even have components. How do you sell carburetors when you don't have the components to build them? I tried to find another distributor that had one on hand and they all said the same thing - "been on back-order for months".
Carbs are rapidly becoming fossils, so it's not exactly what you could call a growing market. The only reason the carb companies sell any carbs at all is because the sanctioning bodies can't sort how to pull a finger out and get stuck in with EFI. And their excuse that it would drive the cost of Pro Stock out of range is a real hoot.
