Block Sealer?

My son and I are getting close to breaking in a flathead rebuild. The top of the block has the usual cracks. I need a recommendation from some of the experienced hard core racers on a brand of block sealer to put in it. I hope to find one that will add to the water/coolant to prevent any sad days. The engine is built and everything is done except some of the bolt ons. I am not going to undo any of the work, so advise on preping the block for a rebuild is past. I am hoping Screaming Metal knows of some killer block sealer, he can recommend. I saw Jack Roush offer Yates something for a blown head gasket, during a race many years ago. I would have like to known what it was, but that is another story. I can run straight water for the break-in if needed.

K&W Blockseal....will seal all Cracks and PinHoles. Used along with WaterGlass nothing will leak.

The K&W Block Seal was orginially created for OTR Truckers in their rigs. Alot of cracks developed that put them out of commission, so they invented it to allow them to continue until they could get back to their fleet mechanics. I've used it for over 30 years.
Theres all manor of leak stop additives, but I know K&W will seal leaking head gaskets.
On the old flattys, I ususally use the sealace screws and sew the crack up if I can get to it, grind it down really close, then file it. Once really close I pein the sealed surface, then finish it out. Then I use the Water Glass to seal it from the inside. If theres any seepage after the repair, usually the Water Glass will solve it.
But if you need to run it until its repaired, be it months or years, K&W Block Seal will do it.

I have heard of the K&W, but not the WaterGlass. I am thinking the WaterGlass on start up and then the K&W if I have a leak. Do you think that would be the right order?
Thanks,

Perzakely....alot of remanafactures will pump waterglass thru their blocks and heads, especially if theres any welding or repairs done, as this will seal any pinhoes. Then if theres still seepage, the K&W will take care of that easily.

My tbucket has a small coolant leak on the front left no exchange of oil and coolant probably a head gasket wonder if that would help.

If its leaking Francis it will stop it....

Water Glass= Sodium Silicate. Can be found in some drug stores by the quart, if anyone there is old enough to have heard of it.

The only thing I could find is Moroso engine and block sealer, the container says it will seal all sorts of conditions. The parts guy is a friend and said it is good stuff. Quite a procedure to put in the engine. Moroso has a good reputation so we will see, when I get this finished I will let you know how it works.

That was I was told, I have to empty the coolant and flush it till clean, fill with water bring it up to temp put the sealer in and drive for awhile after it cools dump everything flush flush till clean then put antifreez back in, I am having second thoughts, but I don't wanto to pull that blower to put on a set of head gaskets.

The K&W can be found @ Advanced Auto Parts and O'Reillys. Also @ any of the big TruckStops where theres Diesel Repairs done. Water Glass can be had @ Drug Stores, Chemical Suppliers, or Speciality Automotive Places, etc.
Bars is usually a little harder to find, just have to look.

We're talking about sealing up a crack a few thousands wide x maybe a 1/8th to a 1/4 long or a small pinhole or a seeping gasket. Yes, if you allow the sealers to stay in there too long and work, yes, you can restrict flows and so on and so forth.
But, if you have a good, working, coolant system, you won't stop the radiator up, unless really misused and abused.

I know of several co's that build motors that use these products, not to seal leaks, but just as a precaution. I've seen some really porius intakes and parts, so much so that they'll ooze oil and coolant sometimes. And for that and seeping at gaskets, its good. Just use common sense and follow the directions.

The sealer went back to the auto parts, will do the gaskets after the two car shows I am committed to doing. Ron this car steals the show wherever I show it.
