Body rake?

If I missed this discussion in previous threads please forgive me. I didn't see it. My question I pose to y'all has to do with channeling the body. I wonder if anyone has channeled the front of the body but not the back where it meets the kick up in the frame? I would like a little more rake than normal but want to try not to put it all in the chassis. I plan on running the 10 inch stretch body and the 20 inch bed from RPM. What say you?

It can be done like that. Never done it that way before, that's not to say it is wrong. Just a little different. just some food for thought. When you channel it like that, how much of the frame rails will you see? Most of the time the body covers the frame from front to back.

Ron thats the only down side I could see off the bat. I figure maybe ill mock it up that way and see if I can live with the exposed frame rails or not.

The only way i could see to do that and hide the frame would be channel it 3" in the back. Then what ever you want in the front to get the desired rake. That would hide all of the frame.

Agreed. Another thought, maybe putting an angle in the main rails right at the firewall. that would need to be seen on a wood mock up first. Heck I need to get the body first lol.

Here's a few photos of a Frame we did with the rail kicked at the firewall. This is cut a tad more than 3/4 of the way thru the 3" tall rail, chamfered, pulled up, welded with a support plate on the inside. This customer wanted a Kookie Car look without having to modify the floor in one of our bodies. The steering angle and motor/trans. angle need adjusting when doing thisCCR Raked Frame (1).JPG CCR Raked Frame (2).JPG . This is the third one we have done like this in the last few years.

Just got back from a KKOA event and found this thread. I have channeled the front of the body and not the back. My thinking, like yours, was to get lower in the car. I have kinda stopped working on it with my new Shoebox project but my thinking was you would not really notice the frame unless you are far away or very low. The header collector and the rear tire will hide it too I think. I haven't mocked it up yet but may do so soon just for the heck of it. I'm committed as I have glued the floor in and cut 2 sides of a long door in the side of the Spirit stretched body. I hit a snag with my hinges and kinda lost interest. I do have a thread on this forum. John

Another thing I considered was angling the frame down from the firewall to the rear so the firewall will still be 90 degrees to the frame. Don't know if it would be objectionable enough to be worth the effort. I'll look at it in mockup.
