Could it get any worse.......

than these steering box mounts I found while surfing "T Buckets" on Ebay. These are bad in so many ways it isn't funny. First of all, they perch the steering box, which exerts a lot of stress anyway, way up high where it exerts even MORE stress on the mount. Then, there are the boogery welds that look like a beginner did them. The final straw is that piece of angle iron that acts as the base.

I realize the builder thinks he did a good thing by adding that gusset to the backside, but that is not going to do a lot simply because the design itself is so wrong. I hate seeing stuff like this, guys like him have no business selling parts that can get someone killed, just because he owns a welder.

This guy may well be a member on here as I see a bucket in the background, but I don't care. He should not be selling these to newbies who will think that Maltese Cross is cool and want one for their car.

The base of this thing is probably a whole lot stronger than the top, where the plate welds onto that litle tower. This guy doesn't realize that if someone is hurt or killed he could lose everything if he get sued.........not to mention having that injury or death on his conscience.

Wow. They'll probably end up on a poor rat rod. Very dangerous!

Damn, I seen green vo-tech kids run a bead better than that! Very poor design also....thick material here, thin material there....

That is wrong in so many ways, a poor design and really poor welding:thumbsdown:

That really upset me when I saw it. Guys like this can get someone hurt or killed, all in the name of profit. I'm no structural engineer, but I can only imagine how much that "tower" would torque over as the steering box put strain on it.. How anyone would think this is workable is beyond me.
