Winter hasn't even officially started yet but if you look outside you couldn't even tell. We have officially been hit with our first winter storm so far.

Up here in Wisconsin it was 22 below this morning got all the way up to 2 above though.

They swore up and down that we were going to get smacked by that storm, but we never saw that first snowflake. Which suits me, just fine.

I've heard areas down near Indy (55 miles south) got up to 6" of snow, but I'm not interested in taking any off their hands.

If I go 30 miles south of my house, they have 14" of snow.....that includes the location of some of my stored vehicles and heavy equipment shop.
That is already more than we had all of last winter. some of that is on top of the tornado ravaged area.

We picked up maybe 1/4", last night, over a bit of freezing rain. Which meant, of course, that we 'essential employees' had to go out to shovel and salt entryways, at 5:00 AM. :x3:
Ain't it nice to be needed ? Good luck with the weather

We got about 2 inches of snow here last Friday. I have to say I will be happy to see it go.

We received about an inch of ice under about 8-9 inches of snow. This is my first day back to the shop since Thursday. I have been working from home since then with the phones transferred to my home phone. I barely made it to work today trying to go up a hill by my house as it was solid ice. I sold my Z71 chevy truck for gas saving Hyundai sonata car because gas was so high and hated to throw that money away but now I wish I had a AWD or 4x4 for times like these. The main roads are mostly clear but secondary highways, side streets and county roads are horrible. Today the sun is shining finally!!! As I type this response it is 28 degrees outside and the wind chill factor is 21 degrees. They say it will get up to 36 degrees today so it will help and melt this ice. Us country folk don't usually see this much winter weather. :)

Dale is right. Two years ago on our way to the Daytona races we stayed in south Georgia overnight. next day they were shutting down the schools because forecast said it might snow. They didn't even wait for that first flake. Us northerners just don't understand that but I'm sure the kids and teachers love it.

That is true in NC and SC also.

They didn't stay on top of the removal and our roads were horrible. We have never had it this bad. The weather man (which I know don't always get the weather right) said it was coming and I think they didn't think the magnitude would be as bad as it was. When the other counties roads were cleared a lot sooner than our county.

Is it Spring, yet?

It got down to 0°, early this morning. The good news is that it is warming up. The bad news is when it warms up this much in the winter months, we know it is fixing to snow again. And they are saying we are likely going to get another 2-4", starting tomorrow night.

Ugh.
