Doors on the T

We've decided to go ahead and cut doors in our 23 T. Are piano style hinges necessary or will a hinge at the top and one at the bottom work? Tnx :tnku:

A hinge at the top and one at the is the way "Henry" built them originally. Speedway has what you need, part number916-52820.

You said "doors" as in 2 doors? That body is going to break in half if you have to take it of the frame or be so heavy you can't lift it. Just do one.

Here is a pic of a 23 T door hinge. I would recommend that you use these, as they are designed to fit the body. They can be found on Ebay and several OE type suppliers of T parts. Opening both doors is not much harder than opening one. Both doors on my bucket open.

I had a set of Wescott Model A hinges and welded strap between the hinges to create basically the hinges that RPM posted. These are pretty cheap on ebay of you don't mind doing a bit of cleanup"work" to them:

Piano hinges will not work very well due to the curve in the body.

You can make piano hinges work, however it is not my favorite look. Dad's '27 (see the red '27 below) has piano hinges on both of his doors. Mine behind it has more traditional hinges.
