Easter build update

HI everyone and happy easter.

After a really cold winter and spending a few days in a very cold garage the T has not moved forward much so a chance to take it to my friends workshop for a 3 day bash was what I really needed.

We have had a problem with the rear bottom arms binding ever so slightly and we finally found it (too little clearence between the arm and the hub carrier) and sorted that out.

Next the hub carriers. They have a 'block' tacked to them where the bell crank ends fit but had never been lined up or set ready for final welding so we set about them.

This is how they stared out

So after getting them in the right place and welding them a few hours of dressing up followed. Why so long... well one of them was totally different in shape to the other which had to be sorted out. Grind - look- grind- look - grind look again. Put the carrier on the car - look. Take it off again and use the 2'' air grinder and die grinder to get those high spots out. Back on the car, back off again etc etc.
Finally got them to a point where the next step will be polishing ready for chrome.
3 days but worth it.

By the way here a view we dont get very often

So rear end finally all sorted out. Moves very smoothly and everything looks good.

You got that right. Best bit is sitting back after a good days work with a glass of Merlot and just looking at the most buitifull thing that will every grace the tarmac

I really hope so. Its been my lifes dream. I had a T when I was 17 years old. You know just a 4 banger run of the mill job, but I loved it. When a guy with a cheque book T rolled up and said mine was a load of trash I swore i would build this one.

The last ambition I have is to drive it to Huntingdon beach and park it up for a beer

Great post!!! You have a good eye for detail. Always a pleasure to see your progress. Do you do your own pre-chrome polish?

Yep. In fact I over polish everything. Bought a polisher from ebay at 150 USD and if you follow the instructions it works like a dream. Brass comes up like you would n,t believe

That's the only way to get really nice chrome. It amazes me who much you can save onchroming by polishing yourself. It's one of those dark areas for most builders. Little do they know it's very easy to do. I bought my buffer/polisher from Harbor Freight 3 years ago for $60. Before that I used a $30 bench grinder.

For anyone out there who is thinking about doing their own polishing this came out of a bit of 3/8 BLACK mild steel plate. So go for it
