New guy with first bucket

Greetings all. I have recently acquired my new-to-me, T-Bucket. I have been a hot rodder my entire life with lots of different interests, and always admired the T's. Now in my brand new retirement years I have finally acquired this one. It was built in 1970 and remains unchanged from that build I believe. Same guy owned it for 35 years before I bought it. Has a 425 nailhead for power. I just got it delivered from Cali to my very cold Iowa, so no joy rides yet. No major changes planned other than wider rear wheels/tires and narrower fronts. I already have a substantial collection of 5-slot wheels, so just need to get the new tires.

Welcome to our family Rob! Saw your earlier post on Facebook. Glad you found us! There's a lot to love about your T, given that it's a vintage build (1970's). Buick nailheads and T-buckets seem to go together - ask Tommy Ivo (LOL). And the school-bus steering, tuck-n-roll interior, and brass radiator shell just make the vintage look. It seems to be in good shape. Any plans other than upgrading the tires?

No other plans at this time. I just got it delivered from Cali to cold Iowa so have not taken it down the road yet. First I want to go through it and make sure everything is road ready, check (maybe change) some fluids as needed.

Considered by some as the 'red-headed-stepchildren' of the street rod hobby, these little cars are an absolute blast to drive. That's why they're so popular. For your sake, I hope you have an early spring in Iowa! 😁

We've had a pretty mild winter until recently, with a couple weeks of sub-zero temps. I think that is over now. I felt bad for the drivers who delivered it, since it was -6f the evening they got here and they were not dressed for that. I was happy to get that big 425ci started in that cold weather to get it inside. haha

And a late welcome from GA. Good looking bucket. It brings back memories of one that was around town right after I graduated high school. It definitely brings back good memories.

So have you been able to drive your T yet? These early Spring days and cool evenings are some ideal weather for cruising.
Love seeing all those guys in the back of your pic checking out your bucket!

Welcome to the fourm, now you need to get in that car and drive down to Artesia NM for the Nationals in May 2025.......
