Ebay... UGH!!!!!!!

Why is it, I can put in my watch list stuff I want, but have no money for, not get any bids. (Checking to see what the going rate for a particluar item is.) Then when I have money and am ready to bid, that's when other people outbid me or drive up the price. Why does that keep happening?

You have to watch ebay, a lot of people drive bids up themselves.. I always just wait until like the last 5 minutes of that auction to look at it and bid..

BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!! What really sucks is when you bid a little high on one item, so you might have a chance, then find it on down the list cheaper on BUY IT NOW and you WIN the first item:o.

I try and look for items ending at odd hours and have set the alarm to wake me up. It has worked if you are looking for a common part.

Well there is only so many Model A fenders for sale in Wichita, and I paid 30 dollars more for my set than somebody else paid for the other set. I won the 30-31 fenders, the other set was 28-29 fenders. I like my set better, but it still bugs me.

I've got 3 other parts my wife will help me bid on Monday, here's wishing I get them at a good price.

So celebrate with me! I've got two badly needed items for my car! :):):D:D:tip::laff:

You can always try a service like "*********". It will wait until there is only a few minutes left in the auction and then place your bid. Of course it only bids upto the amount you listed as your max bid.

Waiting until the last minute works, but i can sleep while bidnapper places my bid at 3 am.

Being up to 3 am, that's nothing. My problem is most auctions end while I'm at work. I just tell my wife what the limit is and she places that bid with about 25 seconds to go.

Fenders what are those?

I'm not sure, it is something my wife insists on though. Since she wanted them, does that mean Christmas is covered?:)

I am really not sure what ********* does for you, that eBay will not. Ebay is set up to proxy bid up to your bid in increments determined by the bid range.

If you have a limit that you would pay for an item, just bid your max, if someone pushes the bid over your max, so be it. After all, it was your max limit.

On the other hand, if you can't live without an item, bid two or three times or more what it is worth. Unless someone else 'has to have it' you should win. Remember eBay works by one bidder pushing another bidder up by the increment for the price range that a bid is at.

I bid on many Rat Fink items in the $20 to $40 range. If I gotta have it, I bid $100. Unless someone has gotta have it more than me, I win. Finally, most ebay bidders bid up incrementally. In my Rat Fink example, if the bid is at $36.76, most people go up by $1.01 in the last minute. That is not good thinking, as you might lose it for being incremental and wasting the last 60 seconds. Sniping takes time and rarely works! Bid your max & walk away happy win or lose!

It's not that ********* does anything special other than wait until the auction is nearly over to place the bid. Waiting until the end doesn't prematurly drive up the bid, and then doesn't allow someone else to up the bid after you.

I have drastically better luck winning with a ******* site.....

I search for items that are misspelled.

You can find great bargains if the seller can't spell or describe the item correctly.

That works good T-odd. Got a set of " 'vetter " valve covers for $12.

There are several bidding programs out there but you really can do the same thing yourself.
First rule is put a low bid in early and no more bids till the end of the auction. You're only driving the bid up that way.
Next figure out exactly when the auction ends right down to the second.
Enter your finial bid 1 minute before it ends but don't confirm it.
Confirm your bid 3 seconds before the end. My puter takes that long to enter the bid. 9 times out of 10, i win the item.

The thing to remember is if you don't win the first one, wait. Another one will be listed.

I never bid on an Ebay item. I use a sniper every time. Set it up for the max you are willing to pay and it will bid automaticlly for me just 2 seconds before the end. By bidding on it all you do is run the price up. If you don't win this time try again, and you might have to go more money if you keep missing out.

One of the agreements I have with eBay to display their ads is to not point out or link to any sniping programs.

So, moving right along, how about those Yankees? :face:

Not a Yankee fan, but the Twins aren't there.

Sniper stuff don't bother me. I just wait till the end and place my top bid then. Like I said, what bugs me is having something in my watch list not sell. Or watching an item sell for the opening bid. But when I have saved the money that's when the item becomes a bidding war.

So, moving right along, how about those Yankees?

:offtopic:When does baseball go on strike again? That was a pretty good year.

What I've done on Ebay in the past is Put in my max bid the day before it ends. If i get it cool, if not oh well it wasn't meant to be. I've never looked at one as it was ending, as to not get in a bidding frenzy and pay more than I want to.

Bidding war may be the wrong words. This family only bids once per ebay item in the closing 30 seconds.
