Engine for the mountain bike

Just ordered an 80cc 2-stroke engine for my mountain bike....that's about 70% larger than the max. allowable on a bike. With the optional 36 tooth off-road sprocket, I should be able to get the bike moving just above 40 mph or somewhere around 70 kph at the top end.

The cost of parking downtown keeps going up and since I only have just under 3 more years before I retire, the bike might be just the answer. Looks like I'll be able to pass traffic on Main Street without having to get a motorcycle license and registration.....as long as the cops don't shut me down.

Isn't this a great country

Now if you can only make it real quiet, maybe you may get away with it, an elect, MOTOR you could for sure.. hehe I know what you mean about parking and gas prices... :)

Sounds like a cool project, let see it when its done. :) How far do you go to work?

It's about 6.5 miles. During rush hour, they have these diamond lanes for buses only, and the cyclists use them too. I should be able to fly down these lanes.

I's like to throw a little engine in this frame.

Built this Schwinn Jaguar last year, but I'm thinking about selling it. I have too many bikes (motorized and non-motorized) now.

The Kona Blast will also be going up on ebay or craigslist soon.

This is my main ride now, a Gary Fisher 29er. I highly recommend trying a 29er if you haven't already.

Originally planned to use this Kikker for my 4 1/2 mile commute to work since it gets something like 100 mpg

But now I have this Yamaha that is a little more comfy and still gets something like 70 mpg.

I plan to bob it a little and change the sprocket(s) to try to get a few more MPGs out of it.

Something like this, except with not-so-tall ape hangers.

Found a few guys that have slapped those little 2 strokes in the chopper looking Schwinn Stingrays that came out a few years ago. Neat looking little cruisers!0

I'll ride anything that has two wheels and an engine (or motor). Gotta love it!
