Found an awesome looking steering box that would solve my issues, what do you think?

Its awefully pricey, however it would be great to have a steering column like a normal car.

Some on there are saying that NSRA safety officials will not recognize it as a safe box, I really couldnt understand why this would be an issue. It looks like they are running it through linkage to a reverse corvair box? From there I guess just out to the spindle one way or another. Any insight would be appreciated! Im a fairly young rodder, this is my first street rod and im learning a great amount.

I would use one in a heart beat. I can't afford it. There are lots of them in use. I suspect the price has something to do with liability ins.
There are two sprockets with a chain between them.

I have used a chain set up in a sand rail that never had a problem with. But i always was waiting for that day that i would be going for a ride somewhere i didn't won't to go. For street its not for me.

By the way that is not a steering box. It allowes you to connect one end to your steering box and the other to your steering wheel.
Google "steer clear"

Dirt T is right, this is only a "coupler" that goes between your steering shaft and the box and is designed to put your steering wheel higher than normal to free up some foot room for stuff like pedals, etc. A friend of mine who builds awesome cars made his own, but he owns a motorcycle company and was able to use sprockets and a double chain, plus a lot of cnc made parts. He found he had to use two idler sprockets to keep the chain from derailing when turned from one side to the other.

If I had an application where I needed to use something like this I wouldn't be too worried about it failing, they seem to be built pretty well.

Putz Thanks for posting that picture a thousand words works for me.

I think it would be a lot cooler if you could see the chain/gears
