Gas tank volume calculation

A while back someone posted the formula to convert the volume of a gas tank from cubic inches to gallons but I haven't been able to find it. Would appreciate if you could post it again.

My tank is a PITA - it doesn't have a sender, the curved neck doesn't allow using a stick, and it sometimes overflows when too full (all over the paint) - so I'm trying to figure out how to get around these issues until a fix can be installed.

Thanks.

The length x width x height will give you the cubic inches and then divide by 231. As there are 231 cubic inches in a gallon.
