Grand National Roadster Show

Thats was a great 15 minuets, thanks. Must have an imprint of your camera in your hand after that.

I especially like the orange coupe at the beginning. (any front end shots of that nasty little beast).
Ohhh that rear end shot works as well. You know the one I mean.. Bad boy!!!!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the show, Gerry, but I can not take any credit for the pictures. I received the link from a fellow rodder and thought that others might enjoy it as much as I did. I have been to the Grand National Roadster Show several times and think that it is the best show that I have ever attended.

Back in the Dark Ages, when Steve Lewis decided to try going to the well too many times and tried running a PRI Show West, we flew in to do the first show at Santa Clara. I've a good pal that lives up in Richmond and at the time, he was working at a speed warehouse in Hayward. We shipped all of our display materials to the warehouse, he loaded them into his dualie and gave us the truck when we got out there. We arrived at the booth on Friday morning and there were discount coupons to get us into the Grand National Roadster Show. I managed to convince my employer we needed to drive up to Oakland that night and I really had a good time. But you know, everything all polished to a high sheen is OK, but after being there a couple hours, you almost want to see a car with bugs on the windshield and dirt in the tire treads.

I only watched the slide show for the first 10 minutes, but if I could have one vehicle out of all of them I saw, I would be most pleased to own that H-D Servi-Car.

Thanks, Jim. I always enjoy looking at that kind of eye candy. We managed to go to the show once a few years ago, I wish it was closer to home.

Thanks Jim for letting me relive the sore feet, aching back, blinding hunger and never ending thirst of the Grand National Roadster Show. Where even the devoted from that "traditional" site say it is too big to see in one day let alone three. Where perfection reigns and that GOD AWFUL 50s music blares in what seems to be a 24/7 nitemare (do you think that music is left on ALL night?). Where even the suede pavillion (dedicated to the 40s and 50s, up to and including a full size and functioning barber shop to get that perfect period look) has become immersed in achieving PERFECTION in the look of la greaser .... Where a roadster is defined as a 29 or 32 Ford and Ts are considered freaks of nature .... I'll probably go again next year (went to the close by Ford Barn), but I wont get a hair cut. I have my pride.
