Header discoloration

Anyone ever try "Blue Away", I see it in Speedway's catalog. My old Sanderson's are starting to discolor a little and the catalog description says it will help remove it.

Color shows that you drive it, looks good I think, unless it is a total show car and never driven... That blue away tends to dull the chrome also... I gave up on chrome headers years ago, they seem not to last near as long as none chromed units... same thing as springs, embrittlement (more than likely spelled wrong) ..

Thanks Ted, it's not even a little bit of a show car it's definitely a driver.

I really like that front end could you post a close up I would appreciate it

Mr. Blake, that's not a problem if your willing to wait a day. If you have something in particular you would like to see let me know and I will photograph it.

Thanks for getting back so soon. The way the front springs are mounted is very interesting. Whenever you can post closeup pic would ba appreciated, no hurry.thanks

Mr. Blake, I'm not a great photographer but here are the pictures you requested.

I have a good friend who built that same car using the plans in Hot Rod or some similar magazine. I've seen the issue he used, but CRS makes it difficult to recall exactly which one.

It was back in 1967 and the magazine was Car Craft.

Thank you very much I do like the way the springs are used in the front end. and as Hoss Cartright said to someone mr. is my dads name. Again thanks a lot

Don't waste your money on Blues Away. It's too abrasive and will scratch and kill the chrome. The best thing I've found for this purpose is Flitz polish. You'll be amazed at how easy it takes bluing off and leaves no scratching, turned some longtime bikers onto this stuff and they were amazed. I found this out by accident, had a new header on my show bike that was blued 3/4 of it's length after dyno tuning and thought great I will have to re-chrome it or replace it and tried the Flitz and lifted 95% of it, Eddie

That is good to know. By the time I get the "Billet-T" tuned in my headers are going to be toast, ha.

Ron, I also have used the Flitz stuff, it seems to work ok. My chrome headers got pretty bad during the tuning phase and it worked ok. You have nothing to loose, give it a try.

Very nice ride Telman. I'm just letting my headers blue, I think it adds character.
