Hotrods and Handlebars show in Tulsa

When I lived in Tusa in the 70's and 80's, they had some great shows. Met Daryl Starbird there. What a talent he was. Also, Tulsa is a beautiful city and area to go roddin in and around, unlike red dirt and flat land west of OKC, where I grew up. I guess I should say was raised, cause I still am trying to grow up, at 65yrs. Gotta have my toys.

Hey your never to old to have fun. Susan and i lived in Yukon for a while .Yukon is as far west as i have lived in Ok. I worked in Weatherford OK. for a while but i never had any desire to live in western Ok. Your right about Tulsa it has been a great place to live for the past 11 years. I grew up in Liberal KS. then in the early 70s moved to okc. in the 80s Susan and i hit hard times in the oil boom and were sentenced to 10 years in Wichita Ks ( not actually in jail it just seemed like it). When we were paroled we moved back to Oklahoma ,Broken Arrow to be exact and we be here every since.

Starbird has his show place at Grandlake now. Right off 44 about 10 or so miles down on the lake. Ive not been there but i see the signs when i go to Joplin.

You are welcome Ted glad you enjoyed them

I was born and raised in Thomas, and graduated from SWOSU. I managed a little two pumper DX service station downtown on main street, across from the theater. I drove a '60 Ford Sunliner convert and a '52 Harley hog, with a '54 overhead valve engine. The suicide clutch about killed me several times, or maybe it was the Jack Daniels, not sure.

In Tulsa, I lived in Walnut Creek, on Harvard and Gary. My office was the top floor of Southern Hill National Bank building on Yale. I had a Ferrari 308 Gtsi. After the second tuneup, I decided neither my ego or my pocketbook, needed it, ha. I retired to Arizona in '87, but got bored and went back to fleecing people for money and building commercial stuff.

Great photos, by the way. Looking at the blue Corvette brings back memories. In '69, when I lived in Kiowa, I restored a numbers matching, 4-Speed, with hard and soft top, red '59 Corvette. I sold it to a Chevy dealer in Scott City, Kansas for $1850 and cleared 2 months teacher's salary. Sure wish I had it today.
