EX JUNK

... Unless I'm badly mistaken, the cover car is the one that a member of this forum built. I believe that MARTIN is the guy responsible for this super rare and super fine ride. There is a full color story starting on page 18 and going through page 24. If you enjoy true craftsmanship, I highly advise checking it out.

<heads out the door to pick up a copy>

January is my last issue for my subscription, still waiting for it. They have become a joke for meeting issue dates. I won't renew that one.

Well maybe someone here will scan in some pics of that ride, love to see great work... By the way fellas, If I get a bit heavy now and then, PLEASE do not take it personal, I was asking every question asked, myself back then... I will say I am Sorry if I hurt anyones toes...

your experience and opinions are valued here ted. never hurts to have two options to chose from. sorry about the hi-jack.

Ron

Good coverage in that article. I like Street Rod Builder because it gets into more depth on the build of the the feature cars rather than just a pictorial of the finished car.

Yes, Track T-4, they do an excellent job on covering the build. I know when they featured my '37 they did a very thorough job.

Todd,

Street Rod Builder is a publication of Buckaroo Publications. Buckaroo has a number of other automotive magazines and they are all in financial trouble. There are going to combine some of their magazines and some will go to quarterly publications. Quarterly publications are usually a death sentence in the hot rod world. When they moved all of their offices to Tennessee several years ago they left one lone employee in California. Just for the recaord, the magazine industry is suffering across the board. Street Rodder is under the Primedia Group and they just laid off 300 people. A friend of mine is a free lancer and has written for all of them since the early '80s and he tells me they have all about quit paying for articles. Between the internet magazines and falling economy and lack of advertising dollars it appears to be a tough road ahead in that industry. I just got an offer from Super Chevy for two years for $24.00. That's only one of several I've gotten in the last month. Makes you think about renewing with any of them. One online racing magazine you guys might be interested in is www.dragracingonline They update the various columns each month. There is a daily update column that gives you all the going ons in the world of drag racing and the editor calls it as he sees it. Go to the bottom of contents page and you will see three other online magazines relating to Chevy, Mopar and Circle track. Hope you guys enjoy it.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate the compliment. And by the way, your car is still the primary inspiration for the one that I am going to build for myself some day!

If you want to see the whole thing start to finish....46 Ford Sportsman - a set on Flickr Or if you really have some time to kill and would like to see pictures of some other wood car and boat projects...MARTIN ANTIQUE MARINE, LLC - Albums

That's freakin' beautiful.

a word of warning here....don't go to martins site unless you have a couple hours to spare...simply awesome stuff!!!!!!!

Ron

Thanks guys!! I cant remember how many times people have come through my shop when I have had a half finished job there, rubbed their hands on an old piece of wood and complimented me on how nice it looks, you just smile and take it in the spirit that it was offered. Comments from guys like you that not only build their own cars, but build NICE ones, carry a lot more weight.

Super nice !!, Some day when its warmer Martin, Maybe we could meet up and shoot the breeze, I live in Denmark,WI. Stay warm and hope for spring to arrive.

Chad

Sounds great! Heck, from Denmark I could probably hear you if you yelled loud enough, would be a shame to be that close and never meet. There are a couple others in the general area too, might have to arrange a meeting of some sort this summer. I practically live in the shop, i've got a 46 woodie wagon that i'm trying to finish up before summer, give me a call sometime, or if you're up this way stop in, i'd love to show you around. Shop # is 825-7497.

I put your # in my phone and when I get in the area I will definately give you a call. Or when the A&W (velp avenue Green Bay) starts the cruise in night maybe we could meet up. Either way I will give you a call.

Chad

Ex Junk,
