Just a heads-up

I've been fighting the script that drives the Tech Library for what seems like forever and enough is enough. Life is too short.

I've moved the articles back into the forums, for the time being. I am going to remove the script from the site and install a test version. If (and I do mean "if") I can get it working and looking as it should, I will return the tech articles back to a tech library. If I cannot, the Tech Library is dead and gone. I'm sick to death of the bloody thing.

I'll let you know how it goes in just a bit.

OK, the decision has been made to allow the Tech Library to live another day. Or two.

I'll be moving articles back into the Library as the afternoon progresses. Right after I stroll out to the kitchen to prepare some lunch, that is.

OK, boys and girls, the Tech Library is once again open for business. It's only taken the better part of 6 hours to whip it into shape, but this time I was the winner, rather than the other way around. That script has whipped my tail around the block a half-dozen times, but I think I managed to get things right this time around.

I want to point out a couple of things to you, so everyone is one the same page.

When you click on the Tech Library tab in the NavBar, you are taken to a page that shows only the 10 most recent articles. There are more articles available by clicking on the various Categories and Sub-Categories in the right-column menu.

(Sorry about the TweetDeck notification in the upper-right corner. )

One you are viewing a particular article, you have several options available to you.

You can rate an article, from one to five stars, to let the author know how helpful his or her article was to you.

You can click that Like button, to submit a Like link to the article on Facebook. If you like the article, there's a good chance those in your circle of friends on Facebook might enjoy the article too.

Or you can submit an article to your favorite Social Bookmarking site, Twitter, Digg, Delicio.us, StumbleUpon, etc. I imagine many of you are using social bookmarking by now, so this system allows you to take advantage of them here. Once again, this is an excellent way to build links back into the forums. Links have the potential to attract visitors and visitors have the potential to become active members of the site.

Obviously, you can also comment on an article. If you have questions about the article, or if you just want to offer an attaboy to the article's author, that option is available.

Please don't be shy about using the Tech Library and submitting articles to it. I have a chunk of change invested in the script that drives the Library and I cannot begin to tell you the number of hours I have invested in getting it to where it is today. It's frustrating to pour so much into something that was so oft-requested, only to see it sitting there and going to waste. Use it, that is why it's there!

Mike, I had asked you earlier about the forum and what had changed. Since you've done this, I can read again without the black shield covering half the page, although I could read the pages by using the RSS feeds for each article in the Tech. Pages. No problems reading the rest of the Forums. Thanks, and I really like the side bar for each separate group. T-Test
