Just another bucket build

Ok, I'm starting a build thread for my bucket. Hope this is the right spot. Long time lurker.

I've been collecting parts for the better part of 20 years now, nothing done yet. Here's what I have so far (that I can remember): RPM Big Boy Body; Model A rear crossmember with low rise speedway spring; dropped model a front crossmember with speedway spring; 4 inch dropped ford front axle; 1947 Ford spindles, brakes, front and rear wishbones; 1957 235 chevy inline 6, rear axle; 2x3 3/16 steel for frame; lots and lots of misc. parts to be listed later.

I spent the other weekend building a mock up frame from 2x4s following Chester's plans. This is just a starting point, I want the body down low so I am planning on z-ing the mock frame this weekend to get it lower.

I hope to spend a bit of time each week or every-other week working on this, although my honey-do list is quite long.

You have the right place. Looking forward to your progress. Keep use informed and take lots of photos.

Great way to start. Getting the stance of your bucket figured out ahead of time is going to pay dividends.

Thanks. Didn't have any time this weekend to do anything with the bucket. What little time I had was spent replacing the radio and speakers in my daily driver. Hopefully during the week I can sneak an hour or two in.

I have a pair of model a rear radius rods that is a match for your front radius rods. If you're interested ; i'll need shipping costs only. Let me know okay ?? The radius rods are original O.E.M.

I have done projects that took that long because I had two or three projects going at once. I DID learn to do one at a time and set aside time EVERY SINGLE WEEK like four hours on a Tuesday, you do what works for you though. To be blunt, if you dont do that your project will be sold at your estate sale. Im 67 and just started a T truck project. I plan on having it all done spring 2027, paint, engine....everything, on the road and driving!

DonnyRay, thanks for the offer, I have two sets of 47 rear wishbones so I'm good there.

Pasthisprime, I hear you loud and clear. Spent an hour tweaking up the wood frame this weekend before I pulled a muscle wrestling in a window ac unit. I'll get more this coming weekend.

My biggest hold up right now is a lack of rear wheels and the pickup bed. I want a longer one, I have a call in to Cromwell but no response. I'll probably order the 36" from Spirit next week.

I have made two T-bucket beds out of 1/2" Baltic birch and poplar hardwood. One I glassed, the other I didn't but when painted both of them look like they are made of fiberglass or metal. Might be an easy way to get exactly what you want.

my bed was 20 inches long. I removed a 4 inch section so now it's 16 inches long. the bed houses a 10 gal. gas tank & a type 34 battery.
