King Pin Removal

I am working towards heading to the local chrome plater and I will need to disassemble the front axle parts. I have removed the top and bottom clips at the king pins and loosened the allen set screws, but before I go further,I would like to hear what the proper way is to go about this.

Thank you,[attachment=4096:T-Boy 2010 0510 001 (Medium).jpg][attachment=4097:T-Boy 2010 0510 002 (Medium).jpg]

You and/or your plater may have already thought of this, but make sure he doesn't plate inside the kingpin bores. Mine did and it was a bitch getting them reamed out!

Yes,

I am aware of this from past similar experiences with other parts.

Thanks..

I always leave in an old set of bushings in, to make sure no chrome gets in those bores, plus you can tape the flats so no chrome changes that space either... :)

Actually, just the axle needs plating since the spindles are in great shape so they are not going to be re-plated. Good Idea though.

Thanks..

I found detailed instructions on King Pin removal on the old Total Performance website. It was really easy to do too..
