Well Guys
We have been through another 'rough patch'. Its been touch n go weather the forum is on or off. We have all come through and its still a living breathing thing.

So can we get back to T buckets and move on from Forums, software, OS system V OS system.. Please!!! I want to talk about Buckets and the people who love them

Gerry

Very good Gerry

Gerry,

Sounds good to me, I'll shut up about OS's for a while and yield the floor to the men with the cool cars! Sorry for the OS/Forum systems diversions. I'm just glad we still have this neat place to discuss cars. I do sort of wish the site included A's since I'm working on an A Closed Cab pickup at this time.

I've been thinking about electronic turn signals for the A and T. They are available from several sources commercially, or maybe I'll build my own. I think using a 4 way switch like a lot of remote controls for TVs / VCRs use, or maybe 4 way rocker switch like an electric outside mirror on a car uses, or even a joy stick would be good. You know, push the left arrow to turn left, the right arrow to turn right, the up arrow for 4 way flash, and the down arrow to reset everything. Maybe have it automagicly reset after x number of seconds. Anyone played with this at all? Seems like some 555 timers would do the trick, with some driver outputs. Didn't find much in the way of a ckt with a google search...

Also, anyone know of a good source for 12v LED light strips that would be suitable for stop/tail lights, when placed behind a red lens. On this pickup, I plan to cut slots in the bottom part of the rear box surround member, put lens' inside it, and lights hidden behind the lens'. They need to be pretty bright, but not more than about 4"-6" long. (That surround member is the thing that goes on the outside of the box, forms the stake pockets, and then goes on down and around the bottom of the box. It's about a 2" channel.) Since Washington just approved blue dots, I may include those too.

Any ideas?
Corley

Corley take a look at this light on Ebay, also look in this sellers store. We have been looking for some lights for the inside of or trailer. Might be something here you could use or get an idea from...

Maybe I should have been more specific and called this particular forum "Off Topic", to better identify it as being separate from the other two dozen plus-forums that do deal with T-Buckets? :hmmm:

Sorry, Gerry, but that's why I went with this forum in the first place, so people would have a place to talk about topics not covered in the other forums.

This one gives someone like Corley a place to talk about his A project, or rbsWELDER to ask about his browser issue, or you to post old drag race videos, or me to post pictures of my granddaughter, or EX JUNK to post images of the young ladies attending services at St. Hooter's. We've all (at least I hope we've all) other interests in our lives other than just T-Buckets and everyone is likely going to get pretty bored with things pretty quickly, if we're going to be stifling conversation about those interests. So let's keep this one set aside for those off-topic discussions, for fear of having off-topic discussion taking place in specific, T-related forums.

OK Mike
Have it your way

Mike,

I think Gerry is right, after all it IS a 'T' bucket forum, and I've been out of line with bringing up all the other topics. You ALL have my apologies for the distractions, and let's get back to 'T's.

Hold the phone. It's not a matter of just me having it my way, it's a matter of all of us having it our way. We can use this forum to discuss topics other than T's, which keeps the discussions in the other forums centered on T's. It's quite simple, actually. If discussion of topics about other interests doesn't appeal someone, they can simply give this forum a pass.

I really fail to understand why this is suddenly an issue. It's not as if this Lounge forum is something that just fell off the turnip truck last night, it's been here since Day One. And a quick glance through the stack will clearly show off-topic discussions have been taking place in this one for just as long.

Maybe I'm missing the finer point here? If so, I am certainly willing to hear whatever it might be.

I've read this topic 27 times and it still agravates me each time I read it. how can I stop the agravation? :ohthedrama: :kiltdance:

Don't take it too seriously Gerry Just ribbing you. things will get better. they always do.

I haven't been around here for a wile because my wife had open heart surgury 6 weeks ago to install a mechanical heart valve and a pacemaker. she's only 56 years old and very fit BTW. recovery has been slow, and it's given me a chance to step back and see things in a little different light. I now find things that use to annoy me really aren't nearly as big of deal as I once thought they were. we all can use a little reality check once in a wile I recon' ?

Don't worry... be HAPPY,
Russ

Russ, I'm sorry to hear about your wife. I hope her recovery time will improve and she can get back to her normal routine.

And yes, situations like that do tend to help us adjust our priorities. It's not common knowledge, but I went through a bit of a medical scare last July and it was a real wake-up call for me.

Russ, I hope the wife recoups soon. Prayers for her.

Huh ?

There are 6 Shop forums to discuss just about any aspect of a T bucket you wanna. I always thought this Lounge was a place to talk about anything else. Lighten up.

OK.
I will lighten up. So lets talk about the color of the dress that some celeb was wearing at the last awards night in LA.

Gerry, it's time for you to step back and take a couple deep breaths. Like it or not, blownt's observation was spot on.

It seems I have utterly failed at getting this forum properly identified. As such, I have edited the forum description (addition in bold) -

A place to sit back, prop your feet up, enjoy the beverage of your choice and tell us what's been going on. Topics not directly related to T-Buckets belong here.
Gerry, this Lounge forum is here for members to discuss any topic they like, so long as it remains within the forum rules. Now if you find that distracting or upsetting, perhaps you need to just avoid this particular forum. I don't know where the confusion started, but you're not entitled, empowered or otherwise authorized to determine what topics are and are not appropriate for this forum. I have complete trust and respect for the moderating staff on this site, that they will move or remove topics that are not submitted to the proper forum. You can be confident they are doing their jobs, as well. If topics of discussion in the Lounge are making your teeth itch, please contact me via Private Message and I will block it from your view.

If anyone feels a need to discuss this particular forum further, please feel free to contact me via Private Message with your thoughts, ideas and suggestions. I will be more than happy to hear what you have to say and take it all under consideration. You should, however, be aware the Lounge forum has been part of the T-Bucket Forums since 21 October 2006, so it is likely going to stay right where it is without any real changes being made to it.
