I'm a newbee from De. I just bought my T Bucket 3 weeks ago & LOVE IT! There are a couple of things I would like to do to it.like to change the chrome sidepipes to sampson ceramic zoomies as the sidepipes have some discolorizTiion & some rust around bends. Anyone had bothe set ups or now how the zoomies sound & work? Need new steering wheel & horn kit. How do I tell what kind of steering wheel I have to order the right set up? I think it is an IDIDIT as it dosn't have an ignition switch on it. Has turn signals & tilt controls on left side & one conrtoler on the right side not sure what thatone is for hazzards mabee havn't tried out yet.looking for a place that could make a custom hood ornament or plate , have a couple of ideas not sure which one 2 go with yet. Mabee have to see them on paper( it does have 2 studded theads about 3 inches apart on grill housing, & last but not least looking for a small size key ring to fit the occation. Any help would greatly be appreciated! Wow, my thumbs are numb. Thanks,Jason

Welcome to the T-Bucket Forums.

With respect to your headers, you'll sacrifice some low end torque by switching to the zoomies. The common collector will help the motor scavenge at low RPM and will help make a bit of power. I've seen a lot of guys run the zoomies on a carburetor car, so it's not as if it cannot be done. It's just the collector will give you more torque.

Thanks Mike. I'm no mechanic by any means. Backyaed mabee I do enjoy tinkering. Put on bassani full exaust on the mach1 isold to get this (things like that). I'm not sure what u mean by collector. Rite now the side pipes bolt right to the manifold. I don't want to lose any power unless it is slight.Right now I think it has to much carb with the duels, seems like I get best power at about quarter throttle & then I'm just drowning out If I remember right instructons on sampson sit said use no gaskets just an eight bead around each port.

Other than power . How are the cops by you they really like zoomies alot of neighbors don't though.

Yeah the crackle of the zoomies is like a magnet for law enforcement, good luck with that one.

I think I'll be ok with law beings registered in Md. They never check or see car under historic, just send papers in.Closest neighbor quarter mile away.the ones I was looking at had.baffles removable baffles in each tube that should quiet it down some. Still concerned about how much torqe will be lost! Don't sound like u guy' are fans of the zoomies.I do appreciate the concerns you sent! Thank's, Jason

Must be a lot different than when I lived in MD. If you had a header leak you got a ticket.

I ran the Sanderson zoomies for a short while. The baffles really don't make a big difference. If you're taking short trips (<5 miles ) they're OK, after that they tend to get on your nerves. If you have a top they're even worse. I noticed quite a bit of torque loss as well. I sold the zoomies and went back to the Sprint type headers with the 20 inch side pipe.

My wife's T has zoomies with baffles. She never sticks her foot in it so power loss is not an issue. I don't care for the sound, the baffles make it a little "tinny", but she likes not having to worry about burning her leg getting in and out.

I'm not sure what u mean by collector.
The collector is the area where all the primary tubes join together, or 'collect' into one area.

Don't sound like u guy' are fans of the zoomies.
I'm not a fan of them for the simple fact it requires giving up power to run them. A collector on a naturally-aspirated car can make some really significant differences in torque levels and the torque band. There's power to be made with a header, using things like step primaries and merge collectors, and I'm just a guy who can't see leaving anything on the table when it comes to performance building.

My hearing has suffered, after having spent nearly 4 decades at race tracks and in dyno rooms. I'm to a point where I understand and accept noise does not equal power and find myself enjoying something that makes good power and doesn't deafen me further in the process.

But building your own car means making your own choices and if you feel the sound of a zoomie header is what you like best, then I say go for it.

Thanks to all of u for your take on my delema! The decision is made. Side pipes sound & look great & don't w ant to lose a noticable amount of power! Don't know what kind of side pipes are on car now but any suggestions on which ones 2 get? I would like to go ceramic coated because what I have read won't discolor or rust. Thanks again!

I'm running the ceramic coated ones from Speedway. In over 15K miles they have held up great.

Wish I were that skilled Hollywood! Did u build ur Bucket? Verry wild & unique!.Like your style!

Building it for a customer actually! I can't wait till I have time to do one for myself. :) It's set to be finished next sunday. The picture above is still missing headlights, grill, suspension and steering components, more wiring, interior, etc. It's a lot of fun especially since the owner wants a Rat Rod so to speak so there is a plethora of parts from random stuff/vehicles on it eg. the green garden hose pcv hose, jeep cherokee xj drag link and steering stabalizer. Hope you enjoy your bucket!

Could u send pics when done? LOVE IT!

Sure no problem. I'm actually in the garage working on the wiring, stereo, back up system, alarm, etc etc right now! I took a quick break to check the weather and see what was going on here on the forum. Weather looks to be good, guess that means another all nighter! Most recent updates include a Jeep Cherokee steering damper and relocated tach. I make sure to put up picks when finished. :)

Cool thks. Speaking of wheather went upstate yesterday & got caught in the rain for a half hour. Glad I had the rain x on windshield, but could have used some on my glasses!

Ya Rain X is pretty good stuff.

Still not done, but a here's a quick update shot I took a little while ago after getting home from taking the Split Window Rat out for a cruise. :)
