guys
I'm trying to dissassimmble the front axel for my T
myT0020.jpg

The plan was to take out the bolts (?) holeing the radius rods and spring as a unit and then decide what to do next (I am planning a Gabrowski/Ivo type setup). The problem is that while one of the nuts gave in to Heat Valve Lubricant and the inpact wrench, the other is stuck tight.
Any sugjestions?

Everyone has their own ways of getting rusted stubburn stuff apart....
Try this....Heat it good and hot and then melt some candle wax into it or around it...Let that work for a while, don't get in too big of a hurry....
Heat it some more and add a little more parifin.....I think you will find that that works .
I have used Parifin many times where even KROIL wouldn't work.....!

Good luck !....."BH"

Thanks, will try!

Thats one heck of a way to get um un stuck running into a wall like that where is the rest of the car ???? HA HA

Here's a little trick that comes out only in the most dire circumstances......

where theres a rusted threaded fastener to be removed.....clean the nut and bolt at the mating line........go get your favorite carbonated soda.......take a little sip.......then soak your screws and bolts in your favorite soda. That carbonated water has a tendency of finding every little nook and cranny.........works great for the used engines getting the stock exhaust manifolds off without twisting off ALL the manifold bolts.......

Candle wax wooks great also..............

Don't underestimate Liquid Wrench!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heating several times and smacking it with a hammer also does wonders..........

If you haven't removed the spring, do that first. Use two very stout clamps on the spring, remove the center bolt and replace it with a piece of running thread or all thread. Loosen the clamps slowly till the tension is off the leaves.

I have used the wax and it works well. Just be patient.

Ron

Thanks guys. I was going to do the candle thing yesterday and found that I have exactly zero candles. May try the soda first and the heat.
Ron, why should I remove the spring first? not arguing just asking. If you sayso off it comes.
