Model A frame?

What would be the feasibility of using a Model A frame under a stretched and widened bucket body? There is an A frame for sale here locally that has already been boxed, and has all the motor, tranny and brake master mounts in place....and it's dirt cheap.

It's dirt cheap because that's what it's worth. I would build my own or buy from a site supporter. Don't start with a POS or that is what you end up with! JMHO

My sentiment exactly.

If I were going to go that route, I think I would go with an A body as well--either roadster or RPU.

As far as it being junk goes, I'd not even consider it if it looked questionable in any way. It has checked out square with nice looking welds, and no signs of rust issues.

I already have a stretched and widened body coming, and from what I've seen A bodies are to pricey for my meager budget.

I'll probably pass on it anyway. So far I've not been able to come up with a way to get it as low as I need without major work on it...which would offset the savings.

There are plenty of cars running around just fine with boxed Model A frames and big engines. Everyone simply has their own preference and likes to use what makes them comfortable . I have a good friend that is putting either a 364 or 401 Buick nail head in a boxed Model A frame which is going to get a C cab.

Yup...and in my case it would have only had to contend with a little V6. It makes no matter now. When I told him I was going to pass on it, he already had someone waiting in line to take it.
