My search for a rear end...

I came across a 9 inch Ford rear end that is the big style. It has larger axles (1 3/8") and the axle tubes are a bit larger than 3 inch. It sorta looks a bit bomb proof. It is a little over 60 inches wide from flange to flange. I have all the old brackets off and am cleaning the entire surface. I would appreciate any opinions of what I have.
Thanks, Dan

It is just a little bit wide, normally about 54" drum face to drum face. The next thing is what is the wheel bolt pattern? Passenger car wheels can be found pretty easy, but if it is from a truck, those wheels will be harder to find and more expensive.

Most Ford cars are 4.5, where most pickups are 5.5. Like mentioned before, 5.5 wheels are going to be more $, and maybe not as many choices.

If the axle tubes look doubled, or extra thick a foot or so out from the pumpkin its probably out of a 70's 4x4 truck.

Just redrill the axles and drums to whatever patternyou want. EASY PEEZY!!
