Thanks everyone, Northstar this sure looks like mine, with the exception of the PURPLE paint. If you notice mine was chrome then someone had the bright idea to paint sections of it purple, but not all of it. that is my next step is to remove the paint and chrome so i can paint it, any suggestions?

depends on how badly the chrome is peeling or pitted I guess. it could be a challenge to remove chrome from that, so if it isn't too bad I'd just sand blast it, high build epoxy prime it, and paint.

Mine is a 57 and looks just like your. Nice to know there are others with the same hardware.

Those 55-64 rears were the rear end of choise for a lot of years. I had one under my first rpu in the late 60's. Lots of ratios available and they were fairly tough.

I would have it commercially sandblasted because they will really hit it hard and etch the chrome good. Then epoxy prime it and top coat it with whatever your favorite paint and color is. Chrome plating is tough to get anything to stick to, but the epoxy primer seems to be as good as anything at doing it.
